    Bullitt Remake

Some films should be classified as "untouchable".......

    Bullitt To Get Remade
    By Ed Perkis: 2007-07-05 11:15:34

In Part 762 of Why, Oh Why Are They Remaking This, it looks like Brad Pitt will star in a remake of Steve McQueen’s 1968 cop film Bullitt. McQueen played Detective Frank Bullitt who pursues the hit men that killed the mob witness he was protecting. The plot of the movie is typically secondary in people’s minds to the nearly 10 minute long car chase through the streets of San Francisco. This is the car chase that started all the other car chases that we eventually got sick of seeing in action movies.

Pitt’s involvement in the remake is according to a source for MonstersandCritics. The source says that the reason for the remake is that, “Brad shares a lot of the same passions as Steve McQueen - including a love of motorbikes and fast cars - so it was a dream role for him.” So we are going to get this unnecessary remake because Brad likes to go vroom-vroom.

The good news is that Pitt’s dance card is pretty full. In addition to a completed western about Jesse James and another movie about a man aging backwards, Pitt is slated to appear in a Coen Brothers film and three others through the end of 2008. Maybe between that, his busy personal life, and the paycheck that will come with the inevitable Ocean’s 14, Steve McQueen and his green Mustang can rest in peace.

Brad Pitt? Hmmm, maybe in the remake Frank Bullitt gets his dick caught in a trash can that use to belong to Billy Bob Thorton, then they get together then adopt half of San Fransisco?

It's bad enough that they're going to rape yet another movie classic in the name of "re-imagining" great films but......

    Brad Pitt?

I'm just gonna stop going to the movies. That's it. I'm done. Sick of financing my snacks anyway.

I like Brad Pitt in pretty much every movie I have seen him in, nothing against the guy. But he should never be compared to Steve McQueen, ever.

In fact, I don' think there is a star today that could do this movie. It's a great film, just re-release it and call it a day.

Oh, and the plot in Bullitt is only "secondary" to morons.

Unfortunately, nothing is untouchable these days if you have enough money to obtain the rights. Sometimes things work out (see the reimagined "Battlestar Galactica" on Sci-Fi Channel) but most of the times they just screw it up. Hell, even when it is the first time, movies often miss the point of the work on which they are based (compare "Patriot Games" the book versus the movie).

Perhaps we should look at the apparent new line up of VH as merely a "reimagining" of the band...

And I can imagine it now: the famous car chase will be done with CGI, be half as long, and have the characters in "environmentally friendly" vehicles...

My first thought with this was why would any actor even want to touch this role......McQueen was an icon.....

I think that it would take an enormous ego to try to step into the shoes of McQueen......I would put this on the level of someone trying to "reinvent" Dirty Harry......why?

And Brad Pitt for chrissakes!.......I got nothing agaisnt him......decent actor.....pretty boy.....but there's nothing "cool" about him......lately he's coming off as Angelina's whipping boy....

If Hollywood really has to do this....then at least get that gut from the latest Bond film......Daniel Craig?.......he has a bit of a McQueen vibe about him

Didn't remaking The Thomas Crown Affair teach anybody anything?

Considering that after "Bullitt", there were a dozen rip-offs why remake this classic?

Oh, and is Mr. Jolie going to be driving a Prius?

hmmmmmmmmm. it may not be as bad as you think. brad pitt can do a good job on well written movies.

i thought he did a good job in "The Devils Own" with Harriosn ford.

he can have that "no-name" actor aura you know, where being famous doesn't kind of ruin the movie.

But the staircase screen was pretty hot.

I think people are letting his private life image ruin their perception of him as an actor. Even though he is a "pretty boy", he is a good actor especially when playing a character struggling mentally such as in A River Runs Through It. He may not be the ultimate in cool like McQueen but he won't disgrace the role.

LOL, I don't remember, is there a shower screen or something similar in Bullitt that we might be graced with a shot of his nekked Adonis body?

Has anyone ever noticed that the driver of the black Charger in the "Bullitt" chase scene is the same guy driving the car being chased in "The Seven Ups"?
