Default Van Halen REALLY going nostalgic for the reunion tour?

What do you think the chances are, IF this tour happens, that we'll see Ed live on the keys for the first time since 1989? I'd LOVE to see this, but I'm not holding my breath.

Here's to hoping! I thought the pre-recorded keys on the F.U.C.K. tour was really fucking lame.

I wouldn't be disappointed if they left JUMP off the set list, but I'm sure they won't and I think that they may even have I'll Wait on there as well since that song is one that Dave could still pull off without any problems.
Them not playing JUMP would be like Zeppelin reuiniting and not playing Stairway.

But I hope that they just keep doing them the same way they have the past few tours, have somebody backstage playing.

I'd never even thought of them pulling that out! That right there is the stuff wet dreams are made of! (For me at least!) I'd love to see them play that one live.

Van Halen is not a nostalgic act.

    - Eddie Van Halen 1996
I can't remember which comedian said it, about the current state of Van Halen, but he said right now, Van Halen is like a really hot playboy playmate with a prosthetic leg.

    BRING BACK THE CLASSIC LINEUP!

I don't know why Ed doesn't hire a keyboardist and a rhythm guitar player. That would leave him to do what he does best - IMPROVISE! All good bands hire outside musicians when they're on tour. Just look at the Who (Pete's brother is his rhythm guitarist), Eric Clapton and others. I'd rather see a live musician play the parts than listen to a prerecorded tape (even if it is Ed playing).

    Just a thought.

VH with a rhythm guitarist? Good god no! The day that happens then you know Ed really can't play anymore.

What Ed does (well did) best is improvise, and play incredible rhythm guitar, one of the most underappreciated parts of his playing. He took what most players would play as cookie-cutter rhythm, and made it special. I mean ATBL is two freaking chords, and look what he did with it.

I hope its not a complete nostalgic thing. Go out have your fun on the tour playing the old songs but then go make some new music. Break into some new territory, I'd really like to see Ed go forward instead of backwards music wise. Yes the old songs are great but lets get some new stuff. Build on the vibe Me Wise Magic and Can't Get This Stuff No More had going. I just don't want to see them jump back into those cheesy keyboards and stuff.

I'm just as sick of both songs.......it wouldn't bother me to never hear either again. That being said, it's a staple and I expect to hear it.

I mean really.......once the Boston Pops rocked it, Van Halen playing it would be a disappointment.

Well, they wont have Alan Fitzgerald on keyboard again, cause thats Sammys mate, and they dont want anything to do with Sammys mates (like Mikey)!!!!

They only need keyboard for two Dave songs anyway, "Jump" and "I'll wait", maybe "And the cradle will rock" if its played.

They'll have Daves solo band keyboardist or someone.

I just wanna know the name of the tour, it cant be called "Reunion Part 2", because its with Wolfie.
