That's a headstock switch. Ed's moves the saddle on the Floyd Rose bridge.

Drop-D devices have been around for a long time, note the infamous Hip Shot. The innovation with the D-Tuna is that it changes the tuning at the bridge and one is still able to have the standard locking nut. So there is no compromise in the original Floyd design.

the guy who invented the d-tuna was actually a copy repairman. he was found by ebmm and they showed ed the d-tuna. ed bought the patent from him kinda like bill gates and the whole dos thing.

Ah but Ed would have told you that he would have if he had the time and the machine shop. I think I remember him saying that once about the Floyd Rose trem, that Al had the idea before

And the idea for the D-Tuna is so stupidly simple it raises the question: Why the hell did no one think of it (or publicly present the idea) sooner? Any of us who ever pushed down on the saddle screws on our Floyds in the 80s and heard the pitch go "up" should have been smart enough to imagine a device that changed the tuning going there.

    Oh, well.
