    Funniest comedians by decade

Today I was thinking about my favorite comedians and how they'd rank by decade. I included movies, TV, and stand-up. The 70's was the hardest for me because I haven't seen many movies from then.

1970's: John Belushi (SNL, Animal House)
Honorable mention: George Carlin (Great stand-up performances, including "Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television") and Richard Pryor (One of the most influential stand-up comedians ever)

1980's: Bill Murray (Ghostbusters, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters 2)
Honorable mention: Eddie Murphy (SNL, Beverly Hills Cop, Trading Places, Coming To America, 48 Hrs.) and Chevy Chase (Fletch, Caddyshack, Vacation, Three Amigos)

1990's: Mike Myers (SNL, Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery, Wayne's World, Austin Powers In The Spy Who Shagged Me, Wayne's World 2)
Honorable mention: Jim Carrey (Dumb And Dumber, Ace Ventura, The Cable Guy, Liar Liar)

2000's: Will Ferrell (SNL, Anchorman, Old School, Talladega Nights, Blades Of Glory)
Honorable mention: Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers, Old School, Dodgeball, Made)

    What do you guys think?

If you mean "Comedians" as funny actors or funny people...than I only disagree with Mike Myers....Jim Carrey is 10x funnier than Myers in my opinion...however....Myers has done much more in the last 10 years....

But if you're referring to Comedians in it's real form....Stand Up Comedian/Comic...than...that list would be void.....because the only guys that would be there are Carrey and Pryor....and in which case Pryor deserves to be on that list.....add Robin Williams....Jerry Seinfeld....George Carlin and Lewis Black.....and the Stand Up Comedian list would be complete.....

    70's: Bill Cosby, Bill Murray.

80's: George Carlin, Robin Williams, Stephen Wright.

90's: Sad time for comedy, but I'll have to go with Jim Carrey. I never liked Chris Farley. I don't find anything funny about coked up fat guys.

2000 and on: Ron White, Larry the Cable Guy. Shit! I almost forgot Vince Vaughn and Lewis Black. Vince Vaughn is a bit of a sleeper though. His role in "The Wedding Crashers" is classic! He also plays a good asshole.

right, because it takes a lot of talent and depth to do basically the same character three times.

currently: Kathy Griffin. Her whole bit about Clay Aiken ("Gaykin") is hilarious.

I'll just never understand the redneck guys. Foxworthy is good, and Ron White can tell a good story. But Larry the Cable Guy is like humor for a retarded 5-year old. And Bill Engvall? Is he really funny? He seems too nice. Like he belongs telling jokes at a Church Parish Dinner.

I forgot about her. For a woman, she's funny. Hilarious actually, and I am usually not a big fan of women stand-up comics. Nothing against women, but I just don't find them funny as stand-ups, but she fucking kills me. She doesn't hold back on anyone.

We just saw the episode of "My Life on the D-List" where her Dad dies. Very sad, but he was also in his early 90's.

jimmy just beat me to it, but Damon Wayans was 95% of the reason to watch "In Living Colour" - Homie, "Men On Film", that guy in prison that used the wrong big words - classic stuff.

I think Seinfeld is predominantly '90s as well, so he should be included.

And another one for the '70s is Steve Martin.
