    Default VH? or not?

Not sure if this has been posted:

A supposed WACF instrumental demo. Hard to tell with the mix but what do you guys think? Seems to be some divided opinions on youtube. I need to listen to it a bit more, but to me the only thing that sounds like VH is the intro.

For me, it doesn't sound like classic VH.
Especially the drummer doesn't sound like AVH at all. I never heard AVH doing fills just on the snare drum like the guy on that songs does.
Also, Eds signature licks are totally missing.
And where's the hook or just a half decent riff? Eds the riff master himself and this sounds like a song anyone could come up with. Okay, maybe they were just fucking around in the studio, but like I said I don't think it's the mighty VH.

    Default Myth Buster...

While the chord voicings sound similar to what Ed uses, I don't believe this is ED. IMO there would be no way he could free form jam and not use any of his typical riffs/licks that we have heard for the better part of thirty years. The tone does sound a little like the 5150 album though?

As for Al, based on this supposedly being from the WACf sessions, the drum sound is all wrong for that time period. The drums sound very digital like the 5150 sessions and the snare sound is nowhere near "Brown", it sounds so processed. On the other hand, unlike IMO of ED on this, I do find it somewhat plausible that this is Al, because the Kick(s) sounds like some 1984 licks.

I remember this one. I downloaded it back in my "rip music off from Napster" days. I think it was called "Fresh" or something like that. Wish I still had it.
IMO, it sounds like it may have been recorded in the same sessions with Bullithead (same engineering/audio quality).

That's not Van Halen. Anyone with half an ear and a familiarity with all of their studio outtakes could tell. Every demo they've ever done still sounds like Van Halen - regardless the quality of the boot.

Every album of their career has a signature "sound" and this doesn't match anything they've ever recorded - on album, outtake or demo. Eddie's guitar has never sounded like that - especially in the old days. Not to mention that the playing style doesn't fit. Nearly four minutes of music and not one signature EVH lick? He can't play thirty seconds without some sort of Eddie-ism, much less an entire song.

Many of us have heard the entire "WACF Studio Sessions" CD - which is a shitty recording. It still sounds like Van Halen in 1980 though, because they had a specific sound for that album. Even the unreleased track (Track 3) from that boot sounds like it would have fit right in on WACF.

I don't think it's VH. The give away is the solo... that's not EVH.

If someone had played be just the first 10 sec, however, I might have said it was them.
