Default My tastebuds have gone silly...

Seriously...Lately my tastes have been changing......
Things I used to hate, I now don't seem to mind.

Could never stand ketchup, now putting it on lotsa stuff. Never really liked hot foods, couldn't handle it., now I'm putting hot sauce on everything. Dill pickles and peanut butter. ..I used to almost barf at the smell alone of either. Now i kinda like them both.Eat them regularly now.
Must be something in the air....Not preggo either...lol
    It's fucked up.....

I've always liked everything except mayo and sour cream (YUCK!!!)

When I was pregnant with my daughter I couldn't get enough of peanut butter and apples. With my son, I had strange cravings. One was tuna with hot mustard, onions, tomatoes, hot peppers, and cheese all mixed up eaten on Ritz crackers. Talk about heart burn!

You have got to try this if you haven't: Cut up fresh baby spinach, add chopped green onions, bacon, then while the bacon grease is still hot, pour some over the salad. It is sooo good!

I have a similiar recipe but I add more junk in there like mushrooms, parmesaen cheese, and to the bacon grease add some dijon mustard, a little sugar, a sprinkle of cayenne pepper and a little apple cider vinegar. Spinach salad with hot bacon dressing is one of my favorites.

Muff - you could be onto something about getting older. I do believe your tastebuds are not as sensitive the older you getting. Just tell me you are NOT putting those dill pickles in the peanut butter jar to eat them.

    That sounds good!

Speaking of parmesaen cheese , I have something for you to try:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees, slice 3 to 4 potatoes very thin, place on a cookie sheet in single layer, spray with Pam, sprinkle cheese, garlic salt, and pepper. Bake 15-20 min. I like them with ketchup.

Wow I hope you all do not mind me jumping in here. That sounds like some good eats. I hated ketchup too, till last year my kids got me to try it on some French fries, now I can’t get enough of the stuff. The other night I sliced up a baked potato, so I could dip it in ketchup. It was not bad, kind of like a potato wedge with out the grease. I loved bacon too, but had to give it up because it makes my joints sore.

About 10 years ago, I really got into mayo with french fries. A friend of mine turned me onto it while at a Rush concert. He had grown up in Belgium. I guess that is the norm there.

    Try this sometime:

    Pretzel Salad.
The ingredients are pretzels, cream cheese, and strawberry jello, fresh strawberries, sugar. Pretzel salad is sweet and salty. Yummy.

Mayo or tartar sauce was all I would put on my fries for years.

Have any of you ever tried Poke Salad? I have not had that in a long time. It grows wild and you cook it up like spinach or greens. I have some growing on my property, but my wife is from the city, and she will not have anything to do with it.

I take the shell of a baked potato and dip it in ketchup.

    Now that is country cooking.

I love Poke salad. You do cook it like spinach or greens, then put it in a skillet with grease, add eggs and salt, scramble it up all together. You have to pick poke while it's young too, or it's not any good. It grows wild right outside my back door.

I make great poke salad. I love to cook when I have the time.
