    Default VH's HOF Exhibit - w/ pics

Hey, everybody. I just got back from Cleveland. I checked out the Rock Hall to see how VH was looking. I snook a camera in and took these pics:

    It's About Time lyrics

Sorry to say there's not much Roth-era VH stuff there aside from a group autograph, VH1, and Ed's 84 Kramer.

Aside from the CDs and DVDs, the gift shop was selling these two items:

a VH tile for 55 bucks

    and a pewter VH logo

Afterwards, we went to the Hard Rock (which has horrible food, service, and horrificly high prices) and noticed they had this VH display:

    close up

I picked up a VH bottle opener:

And that was it. The Rock Hall's pretty cool, you guys should check it out.

Ugh. There's a lot of Van Halen fans which have far better memorabilia collections. It really looks like someone who's in charge of setting up displays was given a budget of $500 to grab some random junk off eBay. That Frankenstrat knock-off looks like one of those cheap copies some of the Hard Rock restaurants have hanging on their walls. Fuck the HoF.

(nothing against the original poster, I just think this display reflects the same cheesy attitude the HoF displayed against the band when they did the induction)

I agree with you. REM and Grand Master Flash had a shitton of stuff on display. VH just had some random stuff, like It's About Time lyrics and some Sammy pics.

Has anybody else been to the R&RHOF? Is Van Halen's exhibit the standard for the hall?

    Thanks for the photos!
    DLR, circa 2001:

"Hey this is David Lee Roth and I promised you the news and here's the news.

About a year ago myself and the great Van Halen band played together once or twice and it sounded amazing!

In the following several months Edward and I, Edward Van Halen and me, David Lee Roth, created some of the most amazing, phenomenal - the hands fell off the clock ladies and gentleman and we wrote three astonishing tunes.

That was last July (2000) and since then I haven't been up to the studio, we haven't really been in touch and we haven't made any music, but I am holding forth, I'm in the shape of my life and I got the high note - I'm ready to go.

And I am positive for the future ladies and gentleman.

Stay tuned and I'll tell you what the future brings..."

Third floor along with the other 07 inductees. VH and the Ronnettes share a case together.

Dave probably didn't offer to donate much (as part of his protest). Looks like Sammy and Mike offered up lots of stuff. They are, as usual, accessible and the ones actually paying tribute to the legend of VH.

I like the idea of seeing the handwritten lyrics. Coming from the perspective of a songwriter, that blank page (or screen, as it is more often nowadays) just stares at you for sometimes hours; at times you love it, at other times you hate it.

because the Hard Rock buys most of their stuff, and the HOF relies on donations and submissions from the artists. they won't buy anything.

the Hard Rock Cafe in Cleveland is pretty bad. the food is meh, at best.
