    Sam's Highest Note

So I've been listening to some of the Sam-era VH stuff and was appreciating some of Sam's screams. I was wondering what the highest note Sam hits on any recording is.

The highest I could find (I didn't look too long) is the high G in the beginning of Big Fat Money. The next highest was a tie between the F#'s at the end of Feelin' and the F#'s he does on Judgement Day. That seems to be his upper range and it's quite common for him to reach up to E (Dreams, Amsterdam, etc...).

Does anyone else know an example of Sam going higher than the G on Big Fat Money? Also, does anyone have any examples of other male singers going higher than that (without going completely falsetto)?

To be honest with you, I could really care less about how many high G,F#,E notes or any other note Sammy hit. I don't pay attention to it. All I know is I like his voice, but it's all about the music, that's what I pay attention to.

Sam is great. His voice is awesome, without doubt but as Kimmie said I listen to the groove!

I analyzed Sam's range and notes many years ago (it might have been like 1992). I can't honestly recall anything that I came up with except that his highest note was on something I wouldn't have guessed.

For his age, we should be hearing Sam's voice start to become depleted a little, but I have a hard time hearing much of a change. I think he blew out his voice more in Van Halen, because as he always indicated it was just so crazy loud all the time and everyone kept trying to outplay one another; he had to SING on top of all that. He's done a very good job of taking care of his voice on his solo tours.

His scream at the conclusion of "Learning To See" sounds like the highest damn screech I've ever heard from the man. Up until that I thought the highest was "When The Hammer Falls".

I don't know about notes at all, but you're all forgetting the scream he does right as the guitar solo in "AFU" begins.
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

What I can recall is the outro on "5150." He hits a ball cruncher there. True bliss.........

Wow, I forgot about those. He goes up to G on "When The Hammer Falls", which is the same pitch that he hits in "Big Fat Money". The screams in 5150, A.F.U., and Learning to See are all on A-flat, which is the highest pitch so far. I think A-flat must be his upper-limit, unless anyone can find an example of him going up to A or B-flat.

I also found that Adam Lopez holds the record for singing the highest note, a C#, more than an entire octave above Sam's A-flat, but he sounds like an idiot. Here's the video:

I was listening to some Soundgarden and Cornell finds his way up an A in "Jesus Christ Pose", which I believe is his highest note on record, only a half-step above Sam's A-flat.

I always loved his scream at the end of When The Hammer Falls. It still gives me chills.

The instant I read the thread title I immediately thought of Dreams. I don't know if he screams at the highest pitch but the song as a whole is sung at a very high pitch.

But I agree that the screams in AFU at the solo are pretty f'n high.

Sam's scream at the end of Won't Get Fooled Again (at 5150 video version) might be the most intense sound I've ever heard come out of his lungs.
