Looks to me like the Floyd is the same one on the Wolfgang EXP model. That's the cheap version.

For 2007 OLP significantly upgraded the already popular MM1F with the upgrade of a Floyd Rose® Original tremolo from its former Floyd Rose® Licensed tremolo. Gone are the natural and transparent gold finishes in favor of basic all-business black - a move that not only looks great, but also keeps the upgraded version in-line with last year's price. Try one today, with direct mounted pickups, the distinctive feel of a Musicman neck and a Floyd Rose® Original, the new MM1F is ready to rock.

That's like putting the best, most expensive tires on a Yugo.

(I'm documented as not being a fan of the OLPs.)

I agree with you totally, I love mine as well (although I have not picked it up in a few months)

I picked one up a while back at a scratch & dent place and it was a mess. The strings were pressed against the neck, tuss rod out of wack and a broken toggle switch. But it was perfect for a frankie project. So after a paint job (the quilt film tops look pretty cheap) and some tweaking of the tuss rod and bridge saddles, I really dig it. I've had some string buzzing issues, but since i got a dehumidifier in my basement, it hasn't been much of an issue. Good full sound without being too "hot". Plus it's nice and light. I even use the bar quite a bit and it stays in tune pretty well for a standard tremblo. Very comfortable to play and the toggle switch isn't in the way if you bring the right hand to the neck (like Wolfies). I like that they're ditching the quilt film tops in favor of a solid color. It fits more with the no frills-to the point aspect of this guitar. I'm anxious to see and play a new one. For the OLP haters, I'm sure there are plenty of lemons out there. I don't think they're packed well in shipping (lots of busted switches, chips, etc) but there are good ones out there. With a little TLC and a good set up (and maybe a paint job), you may be surprised when you plug one in.

When I bought mine, I bought a non floyd model, so my only complaint is the photo flame top. Other than that, I love it.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe that little $1400 price tag on an EB Axis has something to do with it. For a lot of people, especially people like me, who aren't really working musicians and just like to play as a hobby, that kind of dough is pretty steep for a toy. Plus I kind of get off on making something out of nothing. I think too many people over complicate things. "If it isn't the rarest most expensive wood, made in USA, most expensive pickups, locking pearl tuners ,blah, blah, blah, then it's just a piece of shit". I'm more of the thought that if it sounds good and feels good then I don't give a shit if I paid 5 bucks for it.

was there really any need for this post???...i agree with bjk's philosophy, taking what is considered to be of lesser quality (thats a nicer way of saying "a piece of shat!) and putting your own mark on it and improving it is a great way of getting to know your instrument better and giving you some of the technical skills to maintain it yourself in the future...anyways the basics of the olp are the same as the axis and the wolfie...its just not made using the same trems, nuts, frets, or pickups etc...but hey u can always upgrade and make it better. thats where the fun really begins.

These OLP's are like $80 right? Shit adding the Floyd to it probably tripled the cost.
