    Default Poll,Ed's fav.Wolfgang color?

Since most of us here have Peavey Wolfgang's, what do you think is Ed's most "recognizable" color Wolfgang? I know he only made one album and one tour (well two with the 04 tour) with these guitars, but when you think of Ed and playing a Wolf, what color comes to mind first?? Thanks for your input!!

When the Wolfgangs were first coming out, I think the Transparent Amber was his "signature" color... After all, the owner's manual had that finish on the front...

    But...

In recent years, I'd say the dark tobacco sunburst...

my fav is the purple, its the one that pops in my head just because the runaround vid probably. I am guessing Ed picks up the one that plays best regardless of color.

The Tobacco quilt top. He was playing a cherryburst flame top during '04 too. I have five wolfgangs myself and I go through stages of which one I play, cause they all sound different.

I love the purple one but the green one is absolutely gorgeous, it's even the first guitar I really liked in that particular color.

Ed's #1 Wolf was the first year sunburst (sometimes called tobacco burst) quilt top. He was photographed with that one frequently from '96 on, it was his main axe on the III tour, and it was his main axe for a leg of the '04 tour. We have no way of knowing how much recording he did with it, but I would guess quite a bit. That same guitar was also one of the two that Ed "smashed" on the last night of the '04 tour; it obviously escaped serious injury, because he was playing it again at the backyard porn bash last fall.

I still remember watching Live On The 10 Spot just drooling over that Sunburst Wolf. There was one just like it a local music store, and I'd stop by after school just to admire it.

I too love the Purple and Green wolf's. Very pretty.

Actually, wasn't he playing the cherryburst Special at the House of Petals thing? Maybe that was a different time. He played the Cherryburst at the first part of the '04 tour I know. But I dig the tobacco burst and the Cherryburst. I actually wasn't too crazy about the purple and green ones. Just not my tastes. Unfortunately, the lifespan of the Wolfgang ('95-'05) was the most unproductive decade of Ed's career.

I feel like a dork for knowing all this shit.

He played the cherryburst quilt top Wolfgang Special (with Fernandes Sustainer) mainly for the first two legs of the '04 tour. For the third leg he mainly played the sunburst Standard. And on the last leg he played the green flame top Special (also with Fernandes Sustainer). The green and sunburst Wolfs got the shit kicked out of them on that last night in Phoenix. Obviously the sunburst quilt made it out okay.

Ed did play the cherryburst Special at the House of Petals gig(s), at the Kenny Chesney "what the fuck?" appearance, and in the video for one of the porn tunes. It was Ed's big backyard porn-fest party (see Jeff Hausman's pictures and report posted here back in... October?) where he played the sunburst Standard again.

I'm gonna go try and walk like the Fonz now so I can maybe shake off some of this excessive guitar geekiness.

There's also a stop tail gloss black Wolf Standard on eBay right now with a buy-it-now of $675. It's got some miles, but that's still a helluva deal. (I don't need a fucking 19th Wolfgang, so someone buy the damn thing already so I don't have to wonder if I should nab it just for being a good deal.)
