Default What Tubes do you use?

    Hi.

    I have a Peavey Classic 50 212.

    It takes 3 - EL84 Power tubes and 3 - 12AX7 pre-amp tubes.

Right now, I've got all Mesa Boogies.

Thinking of putting in JJ EL84's and Tungsol 12AX7's.

What are your thoughts? Have you any experience with the JJ's and Tungsol's?

    What do you currently use?
One noticeable difference between Judas Priest and Metallica...
...Judas Priest only has one gay guy in the band.

I've been able to get Electro-Harmonix tubes at dealer cost for a few years now, and they've served me very well.

Mods, this thread may get more attention in the Guitar Room.

Just started using JJ's in my '75 and '67 Superleads as of two weeks ago. Maybe just me but I find the 12ax7' lack a bit of gain but they are warmer sounding. A bit of a tradeoff but they do sound good.

Okay...the amp I have is solid state and has no tubes. I used tubes in my ART Tube MP mic preamps. I replaced the stock tubes with some Mullard 12AX7's. I use these preamps with my amp, too, and my guitar sounds hot. The mid has a lot of presence.
