    Default DVD Burning Help

I'm trying to burn some old VHS videos onto DVD (Magnavox MWR20V6) and then try to rip them onto my IBM R40, so I can THEN edit and upload to YouTube...

    BUT!!!

After the burn, I can watch them on the Maggie DVD player, but when I put it in my notebook, it's not found...

First I mistakenly used DVD-R, now I just used DVD+RW but the Maggie would not let me Finalize -blanked out-... So now I'm trying to burn the video onto DVD+R... It's still dubbing now, hopefully it'll let me Finalize... AND THEN maybe just MAYBE, play in the IBM....

All this DVD bullshit and only one skunky beer available to drink...

Usually, DVD-R are the most reliable and compatible. What software and brand of media are you using?

I recommend TMPGEnc. Mid-range price and perfect, quick results for the software. For media, you can usually count on Verbatim and TDK. I also use a nice, cheap, OEM NEC drive. Very reliable, $30. Otherwise, it's tough to say. Usually RW media are the least reliable in my experience.
