Default Ed's cigarette on LWAN- ever notice this before?

We've all seen this a million times, right? At the very beginning of the solo Ed is smoking a butt then puts it on the stage (4:24). He continues to play but only about 20 seconds later it's back up on the headstock again (4:02).

Odd place for an edit....ever notice this before?

I think that footage is from 2 separate shows in Hartford CT..
A little cut / splice action going on there I do believe ...

When Ed did that solo live there was a blues solo thing he did after he plays 316 and before he stands up and jams that was edited out of "Live Without A Net."

Dead on, they cut out his blues jam. Sometimes he did Fur Elise too. They should've left that in.

They did that on RHRN (and poorly) and not on Live Without A Net. They just cut some things out of Live Without A Net like part of Ed's solo and "Wild Thing." They also changed a few things around. On that tour they didn't open up with One Way To Rock but on the DVD it is the first song. You Really Got Me was the first song on that tour.

    5150 Tour (1986)

The band's first outing with Sammy offered a departure from the usual set lists of old. They played virtually every tune from 5150, two or more solo Sammy cuts, sometimes a Montrose song or two, ocassionally a brief jam on Robert Palmer's hit Addicted to Love or the Troggs' Wild Thing, a brief guitar "duel" between Sammy and Eddie, and Led Zeppelin's Rock and Roll (which they closed with every night).

The typical song order for the 5150 tour:

    You Really Got Me * There's Only One Way to Rock * Summer Nights * Get Up * Alex's Solo * Why Can't This Be Love * "5150" * Mike's Solo * Panama * Best of Both Worlds * Love Walks In * Good Enough * Ed's Solo * I Can't Drive 55 * Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love * Jump * Rock and Roll

    god his solos are boring.

all of their solos are boring ... they should throw maybe a little instrumental piece in the middle where all three fuckers get to solo for like 30 seconds and thats it.

Interesting, I didn't know that. If that's the case then they did a great job of keeping a seamless flow of 316 as we know it. Hard to believe there was a whole different set of licks stuck in the middle of that. Thanks for clearing that up!

    Here's what I'd change:

    No bass solo. Ever.

    No drum solo. Ever.

No more 316 part of the solo. It's played out.

No more of those fucked up noises he makes underneath his guitar before playing Cathedral. It's a waste of time and I still don't know what the fuck he's trying to do.

And it wouldn't break my heart if Cathedral was eliminated.

BRING BACK the FULL Mean Streat Intro. I mean all of it...everything up to the opening riff of the song.

BRING BACK the Little Guitars intro.

I don't think Ed should get rid of his solo spot, but something like the 7-minute solo from the Pensacola video would be a lot more entertaining than what I sat through in Chicago...something like 14 or 16 minutes. I have other recordings from the '04 tour where it went past 20 minutes!

As for the cigarette, I didn't notice it before!

Yeah, were are the guitar players? If Ed is having a good night I can listen to him rip away for hours, never sounds boring to me.
