Default Reunion Tour - The Perfect Dream

After seeing the presentation on the RaRHOF, the comments of Sammy and Michael and their interview about the band and Eddie, I had a vision...

Can you imagine a 2008 reunion tour, after Eddie got well and everyone got with their heads on the right place, featuring:

    Eddie: lead guitar
    Alex: drums
    Mike: bass
    Wolfie: guitar
Gary, Sammy and Dave: lead singers

    - 20 minute set with Gary (without you, one i want and fire in the whole)
    - bass and drum solo
    - 40 minute set with Sammy (right now, when it's love, mine all mine, why can't this be love, aftershock, poundcake and dreams)
    - guitar duel, father against soon
    - 40 minute set with Dave (ain't talkin' 'bout love, mean streets, so this is love?, everybody wants some, little guitars, somebody give me a doctor and panama)
20 minute encore with the 7 of them sharing the stage (finish what you started, jump, top of the world and unchained)

I would include Gary on that cause I think he really deserves it. He's a high class act, helped to carry the torch and made a great tour performing songs lost for more than a decade.

Eddie would be able to perform with his kid without leaving Mike's legacy behind.

It would be a 2 hour and a half set, there's a lot of material to be covered and the set list could be changed every night (ok, they don't usually do that, but this is a good oportunity).

I think this would be the perfect closure to this band... I don't think they would (but sure they could) create new music as a band anymore, so a tour like that would settle the situation and each member could go on with their lives, creating mew music as solo artists or other projects.

    What do you guys think?
=\//-/= LIVE: once again, i'll make it!!!

It's not going to happen. I'm sorry. However, Van Halen will be back! I can assure you that! ( optimistic )

if "if's and but's" were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas.

I don't see a combined reunion tour EVER happening with Roth and Hagar (let alone Cherone) - you're forgetting the combined ego's of Mr. Roth and Mr. Hagar in your hypothesis. I think the most likely outcome of this whole fiasco is a tour with Roth in 2008.

I do have a question: Why on God's green earth would you want Sam and VH to play "Aftershock"?

i think people want the roth-only tour first... they want to hear 2 - 2 1/2 hours of CVH before they would want to see the combo tour...

i don't think a combo tour is out of the question, but it's something for further on down the road... sam & dave did it on their own, and despite not getting along, at the very least sammy has said he would do it again (although, to be sure, he initially said he wouldn't)... alex would play with either... then it comes down to eddie being willing to regroup with mike and sammy - given that AVH reached out to sammy about his mom with condolences from both him and eddie, i think that door is definitely open...

the only obstacle after that is if dave would be willing to do it, but as i said, he did it before, and he's a businessman as much as a showman, so as long as he gets to do his own tour with vh first, i think a combo tour, if marketed right, would not be a payday he would pass up... it would also depend on how well received a CVH reunion winds up being... the less well-received it is, the better the chance of a combo tour...

They are all gettin old. This scenario only plays out if they can get it together in the next 6 months.

Not to derail the thread, but I always thought Aftershock was so mediocre. Nothing more than album filler. But, that's my opinion which doesn't count for squat.
