Default NEW VERSIONS? Probably a dumb question, but...?

OK, if it's dumb, it's ok to tell me, but here goes. Back in 86 when the POLICE put out a best of, they recorded a new version of DONT STAND SO CLOSE TO ME. Recently, NIGHT RANGER did a whole CD of new versions of old songs. Would any of you be more interested in the new BEST OF if the songs were all newly recorded---for better or worse--in 2007 with the new lineup. If anything it would be less of a rip off, safer for them than an entirely new cd, a good indication of the tour and something the die-hard would add to his/her collection. THOUGHTS?

After Eddie's porn activities I'm not buying anything under "Van Halen" title, be it second close to Mozart symphony on 4 disks or whatever else.

I've always thought a little improv in a live setting makes for a fun, memorable show. Not sure about laying down new versions though, CVH always got knocked for being cover-heavy anyway.

We need more original content to show for all the years, IMO.

Let me get this straight......You LOVED VHIII, and now you're dropping VH because of two cast-off movie tunes ?

OK... To each his own, I guess.

No. That's a bad idea. See Ozzy's Blizzard of Ozz with the new bass/drums. Simply awful. Now, Eddie is sloppier, Dave can't sing, and nobody handles backing vocals, this will be worse than any Spice Girl CD.

There's a line for everybody. Would you buy new VH album if it would turn out Eddie's a serial killer/child molester? I guess not. Judge me or anything, for me investing into porn business and throwing a party full of drunken whores at one's own house comes second close.

    SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

As far as I know Eddie hasn't went on a killing spree......or molested any children.....so yea I guess I can still buy his music (if he makes any more).

Quite a stretch there with writing a song for a porn soundtrack and killing/molesting children.......thats a close second?

I would, at the very least, put kicking puppies in between somewhere......

    geez...

so if a zepplin tune or some other name brand group gets in a questionable sound track due to recording rights does that mean they"re banned as well?

So, I'm curious. You're here why????? You are no longer a fan of the band and will not buy under the Van Halen name--yet you're still willing to spend your valuable time on a VH forum? How is spending time any different than spending money? Not trying to attack you or anything. I am curious--there seems to be a LOT of people here who just plain don't like Van Halen and vow not to support them. But here they are.
