Default Why is Your Town/State the Best Rock and Roll City?

    DETROIT:

    1. VAN HALEN always plays here 2-3-4 times on a tour.
    2. We have given you:
    ...Motown
    ...Alice Cooper
    ...Bob Seger
    ...Ted Nugent
    ...Glenn Fry
    ...Kid Rock
    ...Chad Smith
    ...Meg and Jack White
    3. KISS wrote a song about it.
    4. KISS recorded "ALIVE" at Cobo Arena
    5. Bob Seger plays 4 shows at a 18,000 seat arena and sells them out.
    6. Motley Crue plays Detroit 4 times in a little over a year (NYE show too).
    7. Motley Crue records their "Carnival of Sins" DVD in Grand Rapids.
    8. Aerosmith plays Detroit 51 days after playing at the amphitheatre.
    9. The Who record footage for their "The Kids are Alright" release.
    10. Kid Rock concerts are almost expected.
    11. The Amphitheatre is ranked #1 in the nation multiple years in a row.
    12. Almost every major rock band has a connection to Detroit.

I'd say another state would be pretty hard pressed to beat out California. Look at the venues we have, the bands that have come from here, and just the entire rock n roll history that is here in this state.

Thanks. I went from getting all emotional reliving the greatest VH show of my life to having this song running through my head.

There was a lot of great music in the Bay Area back in the day. Night Ranger, Huey & The News, The Tubes, Sammy, Journey.............. Limiting it to Starship is a travesty!

EDIT: Just read your last post and you've managed to totally redeem yourself. A LOT of history.

Forgot to mention Santana. Whilst Carlos is nowhere near the same league as Hansen, he's up there just the same.

And we didn't even mention any of the club bands or up and comers (back then) like Tesla.

If little Carlos keeps practicing....... maybe one day

    LOVE TESLA!!!!

Seen them open for Loverboy, and boy did they give them a run for their money.Other up and coming opening acts should have taken a lesson from them.

Five songs, 30 minutes. Hit the stage running and rock out!

I won't say that CT is the tops but the facilities in the state attract a lot of top acts.

    Over the years, we've had:

    U2
    Bruce Springsteen
    Elton John
    Billy Joel
    Van Halen
    Aerosmith (countless times)
    Ozzy
    Def Leppard
    Motley Crue
    David Lee Roth
    Sammy Hagar
    and many others.
