And in 1994, Eddie Van Halen visited quadriplegics at a hospital in Chatsworth, Calif., after a conman pretended to be friends with the rock star and stole their nurse's car.

I've heard this story before. Eddie felt bad about the con-man's wrong doings to the nurse and the hospital. Eddie, out of his good heart paid a visit to the patients at the hospital.

I remember reading about this too, and in the readers digest of all places...

After learning about a group of disabled children who were mislead by a con artist, Eddie went down to the hospital unannounced, and surprised the kids with autographed posters and stuff...

And, if my memory serves me well, he even held a drawing, where one of the kids got one of Edís guitars...

Yeah I remember that whole incident with the con man and Ed did the right thing by trying to turn the whole situation into a positive. Top notch from a very cool guy. I'm sure his visit cheered up a lot of people.

Those were the days.... of EVH being "The nicest guy in Rock!" Is this still inside him, and screaming to come out? Find out in the next episode, in the Days of Our Van Halen!

Eddie is still a nice guy. He just doesn't advertise his charitable contributions and gets sick of all of the pressure for him to deliver in his music life.

I flame him a bit for some of the stuff I've heard but you do hear lots of stories like this about Eddie being a nice guy. There was that story about his signing a VH Encylcopaedia for a five star guy on the last tour too.

I think Eddie probably is a nice guy deep down. He just seems to have lots and lots of problems especially nowadays. :-(

Not to dredge up corpses, but, other than Zakk Wylde (another one of the greatest guys in all of Rock. Period.), who else attended Dime's funeral? I don't recall Ed and Dime being big friends. All I ever heard was that Dime worshipped Edward, like Zakk Wylde does. Zakk was one of Dime's un-blood-brothers, but Ed didn't have to do that. What is to be said about that?
