    Default delays

i'm revamping my stomp box set up I got the EVH Flanger and got a EVH phaser on order, I"m looking at the MXR EQ for it so I can shape the sound slightly on the venue I play at, I found that it just helps to be able to slightly adjust tones due to low ceilings and outdoors. What I want is to get another delay, I have an OLD Rocktron delay that sucks so bad it's cool but it's old and doesnt work the way it used to.. what was cool about it was that it was so cheap that even when you turned it off it leaked a little delay out still but very quietly and it came off as a reverb slightly so it was almost two pedals in one, I loved it. So I'm looking for a new pedal and I see MXR doesnt make anything, I dont necessarily need cheap but I would like affordable at least under 200, what does everyone here use? I like the BOSS and Digitech digital delay's those are pretty reliable but I also like... odd or off the wall stuff so anything out there that really is surprising?

Cost me $99 bucks new, and has been one of the best pieces of gear I've owned. Sucks the shit out of batteries though.

While I haven't tried them, I've heard great things about the Line 6 delay pedals. A lot of the pros are using them.

I use a Boss DD-6... love it. Also have an old 1980 MXR Analog delay for that old spacey delay stuff... really warm tone.

Never heard anything but great sounds from Boss Delays - and pedals for that matter. I snagged a DD20 and love it. I tried one of those MXR analog delays, and I don't know if it was fucked up or not, but I just got some nasty frequency manipulation from that thing when I did bends and shit like that. My vote's for BOSS although there's other good shit out there.

If you don't have to have a stand alone unit - I've had great results from the ZOOM G2. I think the delays are good, but otherwise it's an all around bitchin unit. When modulation/delays/verbs are used alone there's a good clean bypass from the other effects.

No I don't have one, that's actually my next step.

A buddy of mine gave me a case of 9volt batteries last year, and I'm finally running out.

I have a store-bought one, but it's too cramped. Going to build one with plywood this year. Greatest thing are those vinyl ties, like the ones cops use for restraint. They keep the pedals safely in place.

    Hi, idjit here.

How would one go about making a powered board?

I have a wah and a distortion and I'm eventually gonna snag the new flanger and I want another delay (I killed my other one).

    Thanks in advance!!!

I have a Boss digital delay like everyone else and I'm a happy camper.

Back in the 80's I had an Ibanez Analog Delay, it was great for the Eddie-1 Slap and it was great as an uber-reverb but it sucked as a Delay or quality echo. My new Boss does all the stuff my old analog delay did plus all the fun digital delay fun stuff too.

For about $40 you can get one of these powered boards. The power distribution is just a series of input daisy chained... pretty simple setup.

I got one of these and there was free shipping on it as well - I've been really happy with it...

The big problem is that they don't account for your cables in those pictures. The input/output cables take up MUCH space. cyberfiddl is on the money with his set up...that's what I'm doing next. Those ebay boards are convenient, but just too freakin' small...
