Knowing what happened, knowing that they could not prosecute the kid, and knowing that making this public would just destroy the family, led them to turn a blind eye on the ridiculous cover up the family concocted. They couldn't prosecute a 9 year old boy, and they didn't want to prosecute the parents for obstruction because they saw that the cover up was pathetic, really.

I believe the mom made the kid some pineapple and milk (yuck) and went up to pack. The boy was eating it at the table when the little princess came down and snatched some out of the bowl. He had a bad temper, Patsy said so herself, and he chased her down to their playroom and grabbed the first thing he could get his hands on and whacked her. When she fell on the floor he couldn't believe it and thats when he poked her with the train track. when she didn't respond, he ran back to his room and jumped under the covers until Patsy started screaming about the girl being missing. They searched the house and when they found her she was obviously dead and they put it all together. That would have given them from around 10 pm to 5;30 to figure out how to stage the scene.

but that is where it gets weird for me. no matter how much you want to protect your son, how can any parent tie a rope around their daughters neck and tighten it? I just can't see that. Truth is that there are so many screwed up aspects of this case from letting John move the body to interviews that didn't happen in a timely fashion to missed opportunities for forensic testing that there will never be a nice neat resolution to this case. There will always be weird unexplainable things....and I think that is the way the Ramseys wanted it.

my one real take away from this? What parent would have permitted their child to participate in this investigation by whacking a mannequin head with a flashlight?.....that kid seemed much too happy to do it too!
Alot of kids have tempers. I doubt he was the first 9 year old to strike his/her little sister.

It's just too bad. What a shame.

EXCLUSIVE: 'I killed JonBenét Ramsey!’ Convicted pedophile Gary Oliva has confessed to the murder of six-year-old pageant princess in prison letters to his friend – claiming it was 'an accident'

Gary Oliva, 54, has long been a suspect in the murder of JonBenét Ramsey, whose body was found at her home in Boulder, Colorado on December 26, 1996

In letters to high school classmate Michael Vail obtained by DailyMailTV, Oliva claims he killed JonBenét by accident

'I let her slip and her head bashed in half and I watched her die. It was an accident,' he wrote from Limon Correctional Facility, Colorado

Oliva is serving a 10-year-sentence for possessing child pornography

When Oliva was arrested in 2016, police discovered he had 335 photos of JonBenét including photos from the six-year-old's autopsy

Vail, 55, of Ventura, California, has urged police to charge Oliva for JonBenét's death since Oliva is due for parole in 2020

Chillingly, Vail tells DailyMailTV that on December 26, 1996 Oliva told him: 'I hurt a little girl'

Investigators believe several men were involved in JonBenét's death and Vail hopes Oliva will identify them

The incriminating letters have been presented to Boulder police and murder case investigators are now looking through the new information

Not sure why we let men like him live.

He's like the 2nd or 3rd pedo that has confessed to killing her. Not buying it.

Yeah I think everyone's first reaction is skepticism given the history with this case, but the article makes a pretty compelling case if those facts are true. He lived a mile away at the time, he confessed to a friend that he hurt a little girl before it hit the news, etc.

It doesn't really make sense, but I'm curious to see what the investigation brings out.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

Why is it that the same contingent that is against the death penalty is also typically "pro choice?"
