the guitarist sounds pretty good. Not sure why he and Gary didn't form a band. It would sound a lot like Extreme.

Actually, they did, as Hurtsmile. Two albums so far.

He was a good rhythm player, but a terrible soloist.

FLESH pretty much became Extreme Junior, after Extreme defined their own musical style.

Wasn't Rock and Roll Cliche originally slated for VH?

Gary replied once during pledging for the Hurtsmile album that he used the lyrics from the VH track, music was new, though.

'Where do we go from here" has its roots in VH III.2's "From here, where do we go"

I am aware of the Eddie Trunk interview with Gary Cherone from a few weeks ago. He mentioned a phone call was exchanged but would not let anymore info out. So no one knows if Ed reached out or it was Gary. Extreme has a new album on the way and tour but it's likely to be delayed due to the pandemic is my guess. If Ed doesn't want DLR or Sammy back in the band than Gary makes the most sense if Ed and Alex want to relaunch Van Halen. Who really wants a VH4, not me. Gary did a great job singing DLR and Sammy songs live but some fans just gave him the bird. The production on VH3 was odd and Mike Post was not a good fit but I do like the album and a follow up record with Gary should have happened. Circumstances today are different but Van Halen wouldn't likely go on a huge tour so I guess Gary would do it if Ed and Alex wanted him. He has Extreme and Hurtsmile and Extreme like Van Halen doesn't seem to release albums often. So if Ed and Alex did want Gary back I guess it's up to Gary if he wants to be in two active bands at the same time. I think it would be so cool if Van Halen came back with Gary again. I sure don't want a VH4.

Looking forward to the new Extreme album as this band never disappoints, all their records are unique and different and Nuno said they do what they want. They could be one of the biggest rock bands in the world if they didn't have that mentality though but that's Extreme. They do what they want.

3 Sides is their best musically but I love WFTP it's just such a raw rock album and imo some of the bands best work to date. The hidden track WFTP the riffage from Nuno on that track is awesome. Now for SDR Ghost should have been a top 10 hit imo. Pornograffitti though is obviously the bands best known record and it's really good as is the debut album with Play With Me.

Anyway I am sure Nuno would be cool if Gary joined Van Halen again if Ed and Alex want him back. As long as Extreme still remains active as a band which I am sure they will. Time will tell if these rumors have any legs. I know Extreme would come first over any other band for Gary though, it's where his roots are.

It's a great track and yes I recall reading that. Gary should have saved that track for Extreme though along with Big Government. As well as Jesus would you meet me from the first Hurtsmile album, love that track. I would love to hear Extreme do a version of that track.

Right, same, I assume, as “Left For Dead” from Tribe of Judah. If he didn’t use new music then Eddie would have a writing credit.

I agree with most of that except for the VH4 stuff and Extreme being one of the biggest bands in the world (I think they SHOULD be though!).

Saw The Tonight Show with Sammy Hagar episode (hehe). Couldn't make out the tracklist for the new Extreme album but I did see one song is called Beautiful Girls. They are aiming for a harder sounding album. Good cover of The Who by Gary, Nuno, Sammy. I do agree with Sammy even if More Than Words gave the masses the wrong impression of the bands music it's why they have what they have today it was a huge song along with Hole Hearted. I actually like Hole Hearted alot better than More Than Words but MTW it's a beautiful acoustic track. Not sure what Nuno was thinking in 1996 to just break up the band like that, he could have just taken a leave of absence like he did with the Rihanna tour and come back to it. Schizophonic was brilliant but it wasn't worth breaking up a band like Extreme. Sammy though seems so bitter about VH though and Garys like brushing lint off his shirt only being there for 3 vs Sammys 11.

Not sure when we will get the new Exteme album but hopefully it pops up sometime this year.

The thing I can't stand about MTW and Hole Hearted is that they are great songs and songs that didn't fit into the hair metal cliche. I bought that album on Day 1 and thought an Everley Brothers style song was cool. Thought the song When I first Kissed You was cool. Hole Hearted as well. It was an album. Kind of like with VH doing songs like Could This be Magic or Big Bad Bill.

However then the song broke and the album took off. Their intention wasn't to sell out by that song. If they wanted to, it would have been a traditional ballad with acoustic guitar with heavy choruses. It was art yet people today shit on it because it was popular.

Did they play anything from the new album, or only talk about it?

Didn't really like Schizo that much. But maybe I was biased, more like: "Nuno left Extreme for THIS ?!"

"Pursuit of Happiness" was like a final farewell song, just like "When will it rain" on that final EP. Both songs marked the end of Extreme for me at the time.
