DLR 4th of July Nashville on GAC nationally

David Lee Roth might add some fireworks to the Fourth

Watch out, Bill Purcell. Rock 'n' roll wildman David Lee Roth declared himself "the mayor of Nashville" on CBS late-late-night TV this week.

Although DLR might be the most colorful mayor here since Bill Boner, the former Van Halen frontman really isn't seeking office. He instead told CBS' Craig Ferguson he's going to be playing the Fourth of July celebration here on Riverfront Park.

    For real?!?

    Maybe.

Fourth of July bash organizers confirm that they indeed are considering David Lee Roth for a set of both rock and bluegrass, as DLR is pushing a new album of bluegrass covers of Van Halen songs called Strummin' with the Devil. (To read and hear more, go to Tennessean.com, keyword ROTH.)

Hallelujah! Don't get me wrong, I really like Ronnie Milsap and Josh Turner and Nashville Symphony and newcomer Danielle Peck, all slated for the Fourth.

But now we'll go from a nice safe show to a possible complete trainwreck! Bang bang!

If it does happen, it will be on TV nationally on Great American Country channel:
Pre-show live music from Stephen Salyers, John Stone and Scrap Metal will take place on the Auxillary Stage at the riverfront from 2pm-6pm. The official two-hour concert will kick-off at 7:30pm CDT and will be aired live nationally on Great American Country Network (GAC) in its entirety. Locally, the concert will air on WSMV Channel 4, 103 WKDF and 104.5 The Zone.

Schedule: 12 noon Family Zone opens
2 - 6 pm Auxilary Stage Entertainment begins
7:30 - 10 pm Main Stage Entertainment and Live Television Show
    9:30 pm Fireworks

There will be plenty of bluegrass I'm sure.

It's Dave's bluegrass tour, not a rock show... Didn't you see that in the promos? Later in the Fall he's going back out for the rock side...

Is that accurate? The summer tour is the rockabilly SWTD set?

Where are the tour promos citing this?

I don't believe it is true. Most recent reports are that he will be doing a rock show. They asked Dave if bluegrass would be present at his shows and he said no. I am a huge Dave fan and even I will leave if he plays that shit when he hits Chi-town.

I have sources close to DLR....the banjos are indeed tuned and ready to roll. A quote from my source, "DLR's looking forward to a 3 hour set of bluegrass"
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett
