Default Low Voter Turn Out Yesterday Should Keep Arnold In Governor's Office.

Way to go, California, 28% turn out for the polls.

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...&type=politics

All the bitching I hear on talk radio (KGO 810, San Francisco) about how the government is corrupt and how the state is going down hill yet when it came time to actually do something about it, 72% of you guys couldn't be bothered.

If you want things to change, you have to be politically active on at least two days a year. On those days you can go to a polling place and make your voice heard. If you choose not to then please shut the fuck up and let me and the other 28% run the state as we see fit.

You had your chance, you decided to screw yourselves.

    Default Hey, I voted, too.

Wow. Couldn't wait to pounce on this one, could ya guys.
What is the percentage in ANY primary - my guess is it's almost ALWAYS pretty low across the board. No excuse, but hey, screwing ourselves is
    what we do best.

28% voted? Sounds like the entire legal population of California showed up.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

    See, here's the deal.

Primary elections are usually for boring stuff like city councel, school boards, county supervisors and state assembly and senate nominees. However, it's the farm system for the American political leadership. The future JFKs, Trumans and Reagans get their start in these elections. It's also where your Nixons, Hoovers , Bush and the rest of the Kennedeys also get their start too, that's why people should pay more attention to them. Politicians never change and the way they conduct themselves at the lower levels will be the same way they do things in Washington DC ten years from now.

If you want to know a secret, I love to drop into campain headquarters durring local elections. You can tell a lot about the candidate by the people they populate their office with. In Monterey County, if you walk into a democratic candidate's office, where there are a bunch of Mercedes and Lincoln Navigators in the parking lot, you get a good idea of who's really behind that candidate. The same is true if that parking lot is full of Hybrids, Hondas and there are a dozen mountain bikes clustered near the door. Also, how their staff treats someone who walks in off of the street is how they will treat their constituents once they are elected.

    True story...

In my sixth grade honors English class, we decided to reproduce to upcoming 1976 elections. Certain kids were chosen to represent a candidate, one guy was Gerald Ford, another Jimmy Carter and so on. I didn't get picked to be a candidate, which was okay because that meant I didn't have to give a speach in front of the parents of the class at an evening event in late October. I did get picked to be a "Campain Manager" for Leon Panetta, that pretty much entailed writing a report about what the hell a campain manager does. I had no clue. Lucky for me, I sat next to his son, Carmello, in woodshop so I asked him where the Panetta campain HQ was and if he thought someone would talk to me there, he said it shouldn't be a problem if I went in ASAP, before the election heated up.
So I talked my mom into driving me over to the HQ and I walked in and explained to the nice lady at the desk who I was and what I needed to learn. She smiled and picked up the phone and the next thing I knew I was sitting in Panetta's campain manager's office. He took the time to explain to an 11 year-old Axxman the job of a campain manager. He gave me about 20 minutes and answered all of my questions and that was it. I grabbed a butt-load of Panetta for Congress bumperstickers and I've been a Democrat ever since.

Some people seem to think I'm a Republican, but if you know anything about Leon Panetta then you'd know where my philosophy comes from and how it was shaped.

If people didn't bother to turn out durring primary elections they run the risk of loosing talented leaders like Panetta to the private sector. It's that kind of loss America cannot afford.

I didn't vote, my wife did. I should be forgiven, considering I haven't missed any election of any sort since I turned 18. Just didn't have time on Tuesday.

Just as long as you don't miss the party in November it's cool.

    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

"You know what's weird to me is Christians who are against the death penalty. After all, if it weren't for the death penalty, we wouldn't celebrate Easter!"
