I've been listening to this song a lot. It's a great song. The solo is much longer than many other CVH songs. Anyways, just dig this tune right now.

Always been my favorite VH tune, mainly because of Ed's kickin' solo!

Pefect song. Ed's guitar is amazing as usual. Vocally it's a great tune as well, Dave sounds great and the background vocals are the best ever in a VH tune IMO.

This was my first fave when the album first came out.

Awesome tune. I agree that it has some of the best background vocals of any VH song.

Great, great tune. I remember reading Edward Van Halen saying he composed this song and "Unchained" using the keyboards. Nice!

Love the intro, vocals/harmonies are sharp, Ed's blazin' on this one - this is a rocker, a perfect song to lead into Unchained

Agreed - Best VH song with or without DLR. And Christopher Walken would agree that there's A LOT of cowbell in that solo!

Man that's a bold statement, kinda hard to argue it too. I gotta go Unchained though, but HAIL is easily in the top ten, if not top five best Halen tunes.

I know, I know. Maybe it's sentimentality, but throughout the years, HAIL has been entrenched as my number one favorite Van Halen tune of all time. The top ten ranks interchange here and there over time, but nothing's ever booted HAIL from its number one perch. For me, anyway. Just somethin' about that tune, intro, outro, solo, Dave's tone/lyrics, Ed's tone, backup vocals...just sheer perfection. I dunno if there's another song in the entire VH catalogue where Dave and Ed compliment each other's strengths as well as in the composition of this tune.

Three of my top ten VH tunes of all time are on Fair Warning, though, so I may be biased.

Simple Rhyme may be number two, and has never left a rank in the top five.

Oh fuck it, I'm in a list mode anyway.

    1. HAIL.
    2. Simple Rhyme
    3. Humans Being
    4. Push Comes to Shove.
    5. Little Guitars
    6. Girl Gone Bad
    7. So This is Love
    8. Hot for Teacher
    9. On Fire
    10. The Full Bug

Hmm. 9 out of 10 of my top ten best VH tunes are Dave-led. I may be more Tardic than I imagine.
