    Default Da Vinci Code

Anyone else want to see the movie? It opens this Friday (here in the States). I just finished reading the book, so I feel like I should see the movie. It was an interesting book, though.
It's kinda funny, the novel is fiction, and the Vatican doesn't want the movie released. Makes them seem like they're hiding something doesn't it?

There used to be a nice thread on the book some time ago. I'm looking forward to the movie, hoping to see it this Sunday. There's an interesting article on the movie in today's online edition of the New York Times, as the movie is being shown Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival.

I'm definitely going to see it on Saturday. Should be an excellent film...as long as it stays faithful to the book.

It does look really interesting. My girlfriend and I will definitely be checking it out.

I have just done a little digging, and apparently it will stay pretty faithful to the book. Being that is the case you should enjoy the film immensely.

Kept telling myself I would read the book one day. I guess I'll see the movie first.

Not necessarily. Do you honestly think that regardless if the book is a work of fiction that the Vatican would be applauding at the film's release? The premise of the story is pretty touchy for them to simply turn a blind eye to the subject. They weren't even happy with Martin Scorsese's 'The Last Temptation Of Christ'.

I'll be seeing this movie tomorrow night to see what all the hype is about.

    Bobby: Who else?

    Wayne: ...and uh...VAN HALEN!!!
Garth: Wow. Van Halen. Who else?
    Bobby: Yeah, who else?

Probably need to read the book before you can really pass comment on that I think.

I read the book and intend to see the film. Personally I think the Churches reaction is.. silly.

Regardless of wether the book is complete fiction or based in some kinda .. whatever.. lol, all that the church achieves by it's reaction is give it some kind of notoriety or apparant legitimacy.

My wife is Catholic and we intend to see it when it comes out. Funny thing last Sunday, the father said not to boycott the movies, but go to the movies and watch anything but that particular movie. They are really touchy about this work of "fiction".

Yes it is. It didn't take me long at all to devour this book. "Angel and Demons" is the same way, and it's a prequel of sorts to "The DaVinci Code".

By the Church 'boycotting' the movie and suggesting that people avoid the movie, they are actually making people WANT to see the movie even more. Haven't they learned that by now? They're actually helping advertise the film. I read the book and liked it. It was interesting to hear another side of the story.
The church tells us a lot of things that we should not do, and it seems that most of us do them all. (well I haven't killed anyone...)
