1995, from the Japanese release of "Balance". It is also said that Eddie previously recorded this in 1985 with the drum (as you can tell by Al's electric drum tone, only Eddie plays this), bass, guitar, and vocal parts, and if you pan one of your speakers, you can hear pieces of that recording, and if you pan the opposite, you can hear the 1995 version, with Sammy, and updated drums and guitar. Pretty cool stuff.

Oh, and it is song of protest

crossing over should have been on Balance in place of the drum solo.

The song was also released as a B-side to "Can't Stop Loving You".

The VH Encyclopedia says that Sammy loved the song so much that he wanted to put it on Balance instead of "Take Me Back (Deja Vu)" - well, I think there were a few other songs that could have been easily left out in favour of "Crossing Over"...

The Crossing Over guitar intro is kinda' like what Eddie's plays live at the end of Right Now. I hate when they only put bonus songs on Japan versions. That's not fair!! They could have included it on all versions of Balance.

well its because of some reason they want to put extras on japan release. i think they pay a higher price relative to other places in the world and record companies want to give them incentive to not import it. or something like that.

No kidding...that's a good tune. I would have chosen to remove Big Fat Money in favor of Crossing Over.
