Absolutely, he was SUPERB in The Punks, I agree.
Just as they are still a SUBERB act, for sure!

Would've been a great show to see!! The times I've seen Roth live, both Ray Luzier and Brian Young were just awesome.

    Here's the deal...
This cat, Happenin Harry and his band The Haptones..it's a cover band thing...
He's been knockin around Hollywood for a long time, and has made a ton of cool friends, including the guys in the above post.

On Sundays he is at The Cat Club on Sunset Blvd
(the club is named for the owner, Slim Jim from the Stray Cats.)

On Wednesdays he's at The Joint on Pico , I think......

The saying goes with them that 'you never know who'll show up and jam'.
    It's quite true.

Recently, the NY Dolls' guitarist Sylvain Sylvain showed up with their new bassist-Sammi Yaffa from Hanoi Rocks and sat in. EVERYbody from Brian May (of Queen) to Jimmy Fallon from SNL (who did the craziest version of Roadhouse Blues I have ever seen)....
Whenever he isn't working with Axl, or his own band Hookers & Blow, you'll find Dizzy Reed there, along with his H&B guitarist Alex Grossi, who also has been shredding for Quiet Riot lately, among others.
Guys from Maiden, Dio, Sabbath, Poison, you name it, I bet ya they;'ve sat in with the Haptones.
Hell they won some L.A. music award for best cover band in L.A......

Two years ago at NAMM, when Ray Luzier put a band together for a Sabian Cymbals concert, he got Toshi Hiketa and Billy Sheehan together and they TORE IT UP.
For the last song of the show, they brought up Happenin Harry and did the most BLISTERING, EPIC version of Burn (Deep Purple) that you have EVER heard, people.

Go see them at The Cat Club on a Sunday, show starts at 8ish, Harry's band goes on around 11pm.

Worth the lack of sleep, INSANE fun at these shows...
I should know, I have jammed there myself with some friends of mine, almost a dozen Sunday gigs in the last 3 months....
....and I live in San diego and work on a Monday....I do it without a moment's hesitation.

THAT's how much fun I have.

So, last week, all the planets lined up, BeYoung was in town, and Ray had the time, so somebody put a bug in thier ear to get together with Billy, and Toshi, and jam with Harry on a bunch of old-school Van Halen, and Shyboy since Billy and Toshi were there(I beleive Billy sang Shyboy)....Toshi absolutely RIPS on Shyboy, just totally shreds those Vai riffs alongside Sheehan.

I wonder who is going to be there this week....

    Now you know.
