    Default Dear (Exxon-Mobil),

Let me start off by commending your fine company on its recent efforts. Even in the face of tremendous opposition, Exxon-Mobil has managed to stay a corporation of fine moral fiber. Your noble and steadfast environmental concerns are laudable to say the least.

Many people wonder why gas prices have risen so high. Why Exxon-Mobil, even with record profits last year, profits that, if delegated properly, could easily eradicate the hunger and suffering of millions of small children the world over, and even after having made $8,400,000,000 in the first quarter of 2006, still refuses to be the one company to take a stand and lower their gas prices, thereby alleviating the economic pressure put on millions of Americans. I, however, do not wonder why this is. I have realized that Exxon-Mobil is the greenest, most environmentally aware oil conglomerate in the world. See, with prices so high, people are forced to conserve gasoline and, god forbid, even pursue alternative means of transportation, alternative fuels, and more fuel-efficient vehicles. By sacrificing your public image, subjecting yourself to the hatred of the entire country, and projecting a tightfisted, bloodthirsty aura, you are helping to save millions of tons of carbon dioxide and other harmful emissions. You are helping to slow down the effects of global warming, reducing lung cancer and asthma-producing toxins, and alleviating smog pollution and ozone depletion. We should all be praising Exxon-Mobil!

So I urge you to please keep your oil prices high. Donít give in to the demands of those who fail to see your concern for the welfare of the planet and its inhabitants. They may think that Exxon-Mobil is the greediest of companies in a field of business where profit is God and hundred-dollar-bills merely the stuffing with which to engorge pillows, but this is clearly not true. Exxon-Mobil is willing to rake in and store all those pesky green papers and annoying golden bricks and subject itself to ridicule, all for a tiny bit of positive change for our world.

The only request I have is that you invest some of your money in alternative energies. Even a paltry one percent of one percent of last yearís profits, or, in other words, $3,613,000 (thatís three million, six-hundred thirteen thousand dollars), would go a long way.
Thank you for your staunch environmental and humanitarian concern, and please keep up the good work!

    Yours,
    Jan

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

    Default jethro,

you got way too much time on your hands, son.

stop tilting at windmills and buy a few shares of Exxon common.

then, as a shareholder, you'll see the other side of that $8,400,000,000 first quarter profit.

So it isn't about shortages etc. afterall, it truly is about making a buck. And to think the American public's perception is right all along. I had no idea. **sarcasm off**

I agree. The whole reason behind doing business is to make as much money as you possibly can. Redistribution of wealth is nothing more than theft from someone who makes a lot of money. A penalty for doing something right. If I was running the oil companies, I'd be trying to make as much as I can too. I mean, if they can raise prices like crazy and it makes them more money, even if demand decreases slightly, more power to them, IMO. It pisses me off, and my car has been sitting in the garage on empty for almost 2 weeks, but I'm finding another way and if you don't like it, that's what you gotta do. It's business.

So is having mad writing skills and a point that's not mindless asslapping for corporations. Take notes son. It's an excellent letter.

BTW, oligarchies, collusion, and lobbying the gov't to destroy competition and maximize profits at the expense of public interest isn't "capitalism."

    LMAO!
I ONLY buy gas at Exxon/Mobil. They have the lowest price in town and the best car wash. I could give two shits about all the nonsense surrounding this. My unleaded car gets 32mpg and the diesel gets 50mpg on the highway. Is it unreal that gas costs 3 bucks a gallon? Yeah, sure. But if you can't beat 'em join 'em. Buy some stock in "BigOil", get rich and buy one of those hybrid cars.
