    Default Internet Explorer 7?

While doing some updates I saw mention of Internet Explorer 7 (Beta 2) on Microsoft's website. Has anyone tested this yet? Any thoughts?

I've used it briefly. They're trying to get away from the standard layout of buttons/address/bookmarks bar, and the layout they've chosen as a default seems like quite the step backwards to me.

I thought this was supposed to come out last year.

Anyways, good to know. Firefox/mozilla has been wiping their ass with MS and I love it. It's so absolutely superior.

I used it for about a month. There was a preview release of this second beta and it was kinda cool. Batch is right though, it is basically Microsoft using Firefox's formula for Internet Explorer. I did have a couple bugs with it loading certain pages, but that was only with some specific ActiveX apps loading. Also the toolbars were a little screwie, but that's about it for the complaints. Hopefully they tighten it up a little bit before they release it. So far though, it looks pretty good.

In other words, Microsoft copied someone else's idea.

I prefer Firefox over IE. I'm slowing making the transition to Linux as well... just need to convince the wife and kids that Linux is a better OS and it's free!

I have it on my Laptop and My PC. It’s okay. I do think it is faster than previous version, and I like the tab feature, but that’s been offered in Firefox for ages.

Not really a big step to be honest.

These tabs, are they like opening multiple instances without opening multiple instances? I mean, I frequently have many "Internet Explorer" windows open at a time - right now I have five going, but I often have more. So with the tabs, does that just appear in my one browser window and I can flip from place to place or something?

    Yes. That's it.
Try Firefox to have an idea of Explorer 7

yea.. on firefox (and I assume the new IE) you can use say, your middle mouse button to open a page in a tab that appears in a small bar under your bookmark shortcuts

So you can scan a page, just middle click anything that looks intresting and it will load up in a tab. Once you've used that system you'll never wanna browse without it!
A little zen....... Headed your way.......
