    Default Suffering Withdrawals

Hey All, I've been browsing this forum for a few years, and have always enjoyed some of the discussions here. I've even grimaced at how nasty it's gotten at times. But the main thing is that this in my only source for all things Van Halen. I have been going through withdrawals ever since the last tour that I saw in 98!! I've seen Sammy and the Wabo's several times since, but it's just not the same. And I've always held out hope for a reconcilliation amongst the boys.
Then, it happened ever so briefly. That temporary fix!!! Only one problem, I was languishing in Iraq, at the time. I missed the whole tour. Loved the three new songs, and hoped desperately that this marked a full time return, but alas, it was not to be.
Then, I find that Michael Anthony is touring with Sammy. Hey, half of Van Halen is better than nothing, right? Excpept one problem, I'm back in Iraq again!!!! And I will miss this tour as well!!!!
OK, I've rambled long enough. I just wanted to say hello to everyone here, and introduce myself to the group.

My thoughts exactly, Lance... Glad to have you around and take care of yourself over there...

Hey thanks guys. Thank You for the support, you don't know how rare it is that we actually hear that, so thank you again.

Be sure and let the other boys over there they're in our thoughts also!
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Ha! Not one thanks, but many many my man.

My brother is still recovering from his ass being blown up from a roadside bomb. They reconnect his colon next month. Your definitely appreciated for what you do.

Here's a story about it and a Colonels perception of things that he shared with fox news. A great read should you have the time, and an encouragement knowing that your leaders are doing what they can individually to let people know what's really up over there.

Good luck in Iraq and thankyou for your service to our country.

To be honest though, you didn't miss much in 2004. Sure it was great to see VH alive and kicking, but the magic with Sam was/is gone.

Maybe Sam and Mike will do a USO tour and you can catch them there?

Man, I wish. I even went so far, as to email Sammy's web site and ask if this might happen. I've yet to receive a response. I doubt that I will, either. The shows that we do get here, are pretty pathetic. I appreciate every one of the musicians, and comedians that do make the effort to come over here, don't get me wrong. I am just not much of a country fan, I am a rocker. I would love to see a good kick ass, heavy metal show over here, but no luck so far. It's just a good thing that I haven't driven everyone crazy with the Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth, and Van Halen music that I play at full volume, all the time!!!!

So sorry to hear of your music drought over there and that you missed out on the tour this last time. Maybe Sammy will get wind of this and try to work out something. He seems like the type that would do something like that if he knew enough people would want to see them play there.

Thanks for all you guys are doing over there. You're in my thoughts and prayers for a safe and quick return to the US.

I echo everyone's sentiment; thanks for everything, man. And get the hell outta there and back home as soon as you can. First beer is on me...

It's good to have ya here at the Links. I saw 2 shows back in '04 and, yes, of course it was great to see the guys again, but something was missing. It seemed like too much of a 'business.' Same set list every night. No goofing around playing cover songs. Ed and Al leave the stage on one side, Mike and Sam on the other.
Oh well, now I'm getting myself down.
Take care bud. And thanks again.
