Default Best Live Performance Of The Halen's

Which is the best live performance you've ever seen? Pick a whole concert.. or pick a single live performance..

I just love Live Without a Net.. Between 5150 to the Bass Solo when they emtpy and JD in about 1 minute.

Please post! Would love to hear.

Based on the countless VH videos I've seen, I would go with the Tokyo Dome concert in 1989.

    Or the Oakland 81' show.

San Paolo in 1983 with Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers on it. All of the guys are on their A game.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

the best show I ever saw the boys put on was the first US date of the RHRN tour..Pine Knob, Clarkston MI...man it was awsome..Mike set his bass on fire and beat the shit out of it..Al had that awsome drum solo on that tour..Ed's solo was great, he played the little guitars intro and a whole bunch of stuff I hadn't seen him play before and Sam was nuts..the crowd went nuts for everything...

On tape, I'd have to say either LWAN or the Tokyo Dome concert...

The best I have seen in person was in 1995 in Nashville. I think the best live I have ever seen on video would be Live without a net just for Summer Nights and 5150 alone.

Unfortunately I didn't see them with Roth live, nor are there many really good quality recordings I have seen. (It's time to release one.)

Well my favorite was the 5150 tour in Cleveland 2nd night.

It was my first concert ever so that in itself was really cool.

Plus a guy proposed to a girl on stage and I remember reading an interview with Alex after the tour in which he said that was the most memorable date on the tour.

So combine that with the band playing great, it was an incredible show.

Best Live show I saw: 5150 Tour, first night in Chicago, my very first concert ever (by any band) Ed's solo was magical. I was hooked in for life after that.

Best DVD/tape: LIVE WITHOUT A NET, Ed's performance on the song "5150" alone still blows my mind, let alone the rest of the show. Great stuff.....

Damn, now I'm gonna watch that dvd tonight

I was at that show too!

Did you go to the Roth show as well? I remember they were less than a month apart. Ahhh the Richfield Coliseum...

No I did not. At that time I was firmly entrenched with Eddie and was anti-Roth. I liked Yankee Rose but it was sort of like rooting for the Steelers.

I remember at that show they complained about the first night because some guy wanted to propose and just did it as a publicity stunt.

I can still remember Eddie forcing him on his knees.

They also played Addicted to Love I think right after.

I loved Richfield. I used to love the traffic on 303 after a show. Would not get home until 1:00am sometimes.

Too bad its a big field now.

It's sort of a toss up between eras, the Great Western Forum Diver show with Dave, and the Pacific Ampitheater FUCK show with Sam.

But performance-wise, regarding clean cut execution of musical prowess, I have to give the nod to the FUCK show.

Hard to say. I've seen them 8 times. I think I enjoyed the Monsters of Rock in Denver, 1988. The boys were on their game, the weather was great, and all of the bands that day were great. Close second for me was the 5150 tour in Carbondale, IL, which was my first concert of any type.

July 7, 2004 simply because I thought I would never see Edward again and their playing was spot on at our show in Columbus. I was entranced the entire show and wished it would never end thinking, I will never see Edward again.

Best live performance for me was august of 2005 at Frank Clair stadium in Ottawa. The boys hadn't played there in 14 years or so and they gave everyone their money's worth for over 2 and a half hours.

Best video live performance has to be the Live Without A Net DVD followed closely by the PPV from Toronto in 2005 as well.
