    Default I Want Some Action!

I believe it was a demo for 5150, a wicked jamming tune, like the band just seems to be right into it. Any thoughts?

This song kicks ass. I would have much rather had this song on 5150 than Inside.

I so disagree with that! Inside is actually a pretty great tune, and just having them having fun plus Eddie totally ripping that solo to shreds is worth having on an album. Could've easily been a tenth track.

I think Inside is a kick ass tune. I dig the base line and hearing them talk in the backround. I Want Some Action rocks, I wish they would have thrown that on the album.

I Want Some Action is actually a riff Steve Lukather (TOTO) and Eddie came up with. Steve has that riff on one of his solo albums, slower paced.

Also that same riff was the basis for Stompin' (the SNL appearance) when Ed was on with Val.

So it has nine lives... maybe it will appear on a (eh hemmm) FUTURE VH album. I don't think I will hold my breath.

That same era brought us the Wild Life soundtrack...many great 5150 Eddie outtakes on there! I don't think I Want Some Action was part of it though.

I agree and think that's why it never made the album. I bet it was going to be one or the other and they took Good Enough. I love "Action" too but I can see why they left it off. It'd be like having When It's Love and Love Walks In on the same album.

this song is smoking and one of the best early hagar era VH tracks they wrote together.
this song definetly should have replaced the inside, or just have been added to the record anyways.

if this song was a single, even though the album went to #1 one with a few singles, this could have made it even crazier for the band. great tune, one of their best. id love to hear a cleaned up version of this song than the one thats been floating around for years and years.

Eddie used the same riff in different clothing for four different tunes that I know of:

I Want Some Action - VH
    Stompin' 8H (SNL performance)
Twist The Knife - Steve Lukather
Dirty Water Dog - VH III

...the best BY FAR, IMHO, was the SNL version...

It truly was the riff that wouldn't die...LOL!

I really, really like this tune. I have 2 different versions, one is longer than the other..just rythm guitar and sammy doing the heyyyayheeey thingy. I'm pretty sure Ed would have been soloing over that part, probably would have sounded like Drop Dead Legs. I'd love to hear a cleaned up version. They had this, a few songs left over from OU812, at least 3 or 4 from FUCK and a few from Balance..why oh why was it so important to record a new song for Twister? If everything in the band was as bad as Sammy has said it was, why not just use a left over tune? Never, ever made sense to me.

BTTB, I heard something about the other version you mentioned. The one I have is 4:04 minutes longer - a friend of mine said once that his version has 4:17 minutes. Yeah, I also like the tune. The guitar sound is somehow wild!
