    Default New EVH Charvel????

I was wondering, I have heard that the EVH art style guitars are coming to an end and that Ed and charvel will eventually release a creation as was done with Ernie Ball and Peavey.

Does anyone have an idea if this is true and when these guitars will come out?

Price aside....if such a guitar is released I think it will be killer.

    Your thoughts?

Ed confirmed he's working on another version of the Wolfgang with Charvel last time he talked on the phone with the Two Dorks...

Supposedly the guitar is going to be made by Fender in Mexico. It sounds like they may give Eddie his own brand name. I think I heard they might make an amp also. Nothing showed up at winter Namm this year so I guess we will have to wait to this summer to see if they show anything.

I hope not....those mexican Fenders are just plain s**t.

I have heard no inside info from any guitar manufacturer or retailer, I just ask based on speculation i've read on the net.

If the "Charvel Wolfgang" is a US made guitar....then we may see a killer axe.

    Time will tell.

If you guys want a killer axe, go buy a Wolfie or a EBMM...

With how much Charvel tried to rape people on the striped one dimensional guitar, I could only imagine the mortgages people would have to take out to get something in the realm of a Peavey or Ernie Ball EVH guitar...

Have you played one or owned one? I have eight Fender guitars and three of them are MIM (standard strat, classic 60's strat, and Tele Deluxe) and I think they are great playing guitars. This is a case of guitar snobbery.

A friend of mine owns a pretty decent sized music store here in Olympia said that the Mexi-Strats are actually pretty good quality.

After owning only U.S. built musical equipment, I only have a moral dilemma owning foreign made stuff... I'm very big on buying American...

Well I have a friend who has confirmed the Charvel's being made in Mexico.

I guess the hold up is that they were going to throw in an illegal immigrant for free but Congress kinda screwed that up.

Yes buddy I have played a mexican strat....that's why I didn't buy it.

They are the crapiest strats ever......just plain horrible.

US strats in my opinion are number 1, Japan stats come in a very close second. Some even debate that the Japanese strats are better than the US ones.

Why, they play and sound better than the sorry excuse for guitars that come out of mexico.

I happen to own a Japanese squire strat and it absolutly kicks the ass of mexican fender strats....hands down...and it's a SQUIRE.

As for my opinion about the mexican strats being a case of guitar snobbery......well my opinion is just that MY OPINION.

Maybe you should spend more time concentrating on how you are going to buy your 9th fender rather than bag people about their opinions.

for those defending the fender mexican strats pick-up a ebmm axis or evh. no comparison worth every dollar. charvels i can have someone build for 800 bucks. until you pick up a ebmm you will never understand how they feel in your hands its like butter. they were for sure a great insturment and the peavey isnt so bad.

I know people who prefer Highway 1's to US Standards, and I know people who prefer MIM's to US Standard's as well. Some even tour with MIM guitars. Tom Morello, to this day, records and tours with a MIM Tele.

The quality of guitars is typically higher out of the Corona facility. But personally, I prefer the vintage bridge on the MIM to the US twin pivot. I own a 50's reissue MIM, and with new pickups in it, it's a pretty fantastic strat for what would be a $700 street with the new pickups, significantly less than a Music Man, or Wolfgang, so a comparison is silly.

But considering the MIM standards street at $369, and US strats street at $629 starting, there is an inherent value to the MIM's, if you do a few upgrades, as long as you are not worried about resale value.

And, I'm almost 100% sure about this, but only the US and MIM Fender's are made at Fender run and owned facilities--in Ensenada and Corona. The Korean, and limited US avail. Japanese models are made under license.

Besides, even Taylor Guitars are making their Baby series in Mexico now. I have a Garrison acoustic, and it's made in Canada. You can at least say that they are North American made. At least Fender isn't like Gibson/Epiphone, who's guitars are way overpriced (not that some Fender's aren't, but Gibson/Epi's are from top to bottom). The comparable Epi LP to the MIM standards are more expensive, and made in China. OF course, that is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

This year model MIM is the best deal going right now for a great guitar. The changes are:

    1. Now alder body, not poplar
    2. Medium-jumbo frets instead of the vintage smaller frets
    3. Better shielding
    4. Larger vintage-style trem block for better sustain

The only complaint about them is some people are not happy with the ceramic-magnet pickups (as opposed to alnico) but this can be remedied inexpensively. I personally love the sound of the pickups in my MIM.

When it was still in production, the Wolfgang Special (via ebay) was the best guitar you could get for the money, but now it has got to be a MIM Strat.
