    Default D E V O!

Some people say Devo are a one-hit wonder. Well, one hit wonder or not. There's no denying that Devo's put out alot of fun tunes! I've been fixated with them quite a bit lately. Right now, all I have are CDs of "Greatest Hits" and "The Essentials", and I have a promo 45 of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" that's in mono on the way, and the LP vinyl copy of "New Traditionalists" with a 7" of "Working In The Coal Mine". BTW, I have a question:If you play a mono record on a stereo turn table, does that damage the needle or anything? Anyway, my favorite DEVO tunes are:

    (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
    That's Good
    Girl U Want
Working In The Coal Mine (from the Heavy Metal soundtrack, also included as a bonus 7" with the LP vinyl release of "New Traditionalists")
    Through Being Cool
    Jerkin' Back 'n' Forth
    Beautiful World
When you're Van Hagar, you're Van Hagar 4 life! BOO YAH!!!!!!!!!!!

Great visual artists in addition to some classic new wave (Girl U Want,
Satisfaction), the vid for Whip It is an all-time great.

DEVO still rocks!!! Song was pretty cool, another band that is producing more than VH at 30+ years old. That chick in the video has a hell of a set of meat curtains though.

I went to a music festival in Atlanta about 2001 and it was 2 days and 3 stages. I hear this band over at the other stage and they sound pretty good so we go over....it was DEVO.....I always thought they were a joke. They don't sound bad live if you like that 80s techno new wave thing.

Count me in as a fan. I borrowed a friend's Best of Devo a while back and wound up liking almost everything on it.

    Devo was a great band.

As I understand it, all of them are PhDs who decided to start a band. "DEVO" evidently is short for De-evolution...in as much as society has de-evolved.

I was always a real fan of these guys...I like "smart" rock or "nerd" rock or whatever people call it these days. These guys, XTC, They Might Be Giants, Talking Heads...all very good.
    Stay out of it, dude.

Mothersbaugh has stayed pretty visible outside of Devo too.

I love Devo. They are NOT all about "Whip It." They are very creative, quirky, and dark. In my book, they are musical geniuses.

I've been having a Devo revival in the last three weeks. Been listening a lot to Duty Now For The Future and New Traditionalists. All of you should check these two joints out.

I listen to New Traditionalists all the time... Great record. Pity You, Jerking Back And Forth, Beautiful World... that's some jiggy shit.

I always get to the record shop and go What the hell was it that I wanted to get? More Devo is on that list I keep in my head, but totally forget when I need it.
