    Default Steve Winwood

It's unbelievable how long this guy's been making music. He's been performing in bands ever since he was a teenager! His first major success came when he was with the Spencer Davis Group, and they had a huge hit single with "Gimme Some Lovin'", a while later, he formed the band "Traffic", then in 1969, he hooked up with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Rick Grech to form the supergroup Blind Faith, which only lasted one album. I don't think he really hit it big until he went solo though! He's had a string of success ever since the 1960s, and he's still going strong to this day I believe! I've only been to him for a couple of months, but my favorite songs of his so far are:

    While You See A Chance
    Valerie
    While There's A Candle Burning
    Still In The Game
    Help Me Angel
    Talking Back To The Night
    Higher Love
    Freedom Overspill
    My Love's Leavin'
    The Finer Things
    Roll With It
Don't You Know What The Night Can Do?

    A true musical genius indeed.

He's still around. His last album was 2003's "About Time".

Looks like Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton (both of Blind Faith) will be touring this summer.

    http://www.spinner.com/2009/02/13/er...e_wpcom_inline

This past August, Steve Winwood told Spinner that he and one-time Blind Faith bandmate Eric Clapton remained "in touch" following a few reunion-ish shows at Madison Square Garden in NYC, but that "as of yet, no plans have been made" for additional shows.

That was then, this is now. Three nights just wasn't enough to time to revisit Blind Faith's sole album, the self-titled release from 1969 featuring 'Can't Find My Way Home' ... and a topless young girl on the album cover. The reunited pair -- touring under their names, not Blind Faith's -- will hit the road for a 14-date tour which kicks off on June 10 in East Rutherford, NJ, and winds its way to the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, on June 30.

That's almost as long as their band lasted the first time around.

It was indeed Steve who played on Hendrix "Voodoo child" no less.

He always seems to have been there but in the background. Saying that though, this guy is one of the richest musicians around. Songwriting royalties and smart publishing deals mean that cat hasn't had to work in decades.
A man could lose himself in a country like this.

Could have to go see this one.

That's how much wood winwood would win if winwood would or could win wood. I measured.

If a Winwood would win wood, then a Winwood could win wood. But, a Winwood can't win wood, so Winwood won't win wood.

    fun.

Saw this guy open for Tom Petty with my wife last year. Just incredible. To hear some of those legendary songs live was a dream come true, and his voice hasn't lost a bit of magic.

Go if you get a chance.

"Can't find my way home" and " Dear Mr. Fantasy " would be worth the price of admission, all by themselves.

SW ripping up a terrific version of Traffic's "Dear Mr. Fantasy", from 2003.

    Walfredo Reyes Jr. - Drums
    Randall Bramblett - Organ

Craig, once again you come through with a great find. I absolutely love that song. But before the commercials for the NFL network, I had never really listened to it.
