    Default Ed Leffler

I just read the 2 chapters from Sammy's book once again, and I really think had Ed Leffler not died they never would have broke up. It seems he was simply perfect for his job, and he held the band together. Sure it was great to get 2 new songs with Dave and even VH 3 with Gary was cool, but had Leffler not passed and Daniels never had control it's interesting to speculate on where this band would be. I'd imagine we'd have 3 or 4 more Van Halen albums and they might still be touring today. Thoughts?

you're probably right. I've been thinking about this for awhile. I have the 93 bridge benefit on tape and Sam and Ed still seem pretty tight on that. Even on the House of Blues radio special they seem tight but by the time the balance promos started it was falling apart. I think it feel apart when Ed and Al picked Daniels. Sam knew he was bad news and didn't want him at all. Maybe if they would have went with Aerosmiths manager like sam wanted this never would have happened. I guess Ed kinda flipped out when they were talking to him and he kinda got scared off...too bad....

It wasn't just logistics either. When Leffler passed, Eddie was devastated. That's when the whole hair-cutting freakout happened and Eddie hasn't been the same since !
Since then, He's lost both parents, his wife, part of his tongue and his direction!

I've always equated it to Mike Tyson......
Tyson was the baddest man on the planet for a long time and nobody wanted any part of him, much like VH in their hayday. Then Cuss Damato died and Tyson lost all of his direction and took people into his circle that weren't there to look after his best interest and it all quickly fell apart....sound familiar?

I agree, but I had high hopes that with Irvin Asoff, things would get back to normal, it's a shame things didn't work out.

    At least they tried.

WOLFGANG did the IMPOSSIBLE, he brought back VAN HALEN, DEAL WITH IT.
