Default another slap in the face of van halen

According to The Associated Press, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame looks to be getting some competition.
VH1 announced Thursday (April 6) that it will debut the "VH1 Rock Honors" next month to pay homage to the gods of hard rock. The inaugural honorees are KISS, QUEEN, DEF LEPPARD and JUDAS PRIEST.

The ceremony, to take place May 25 in Las Vegas, will pay tribute to hard-rock legends much like the Rock Hall of Fame does, with "spoken tributes, filmed packages and performances by some of today's hottest rock acts as well as the legends themselves."

VH1 has aired the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies the past few years.
"VH1 Rock Honors" will air May 31. It's not the first genre to get the tribute treatment from the network; last week VH1 announced plans for its third annual "Hip-Hop Honors", which will air in October

if it wasnt for vh-1 , i couldnt tell you who judas priest was man...... thank you so much vh-1

Saw this in another thread as well.

At least the Priest is finally getting some recognition. It's about time.

I really enjoy all of those bands but doesn't it stand to reason that Van Halen would or should be included before Def Leppard?

How much do you wanna bet that these bands are the one's being honored because they are the ones that VH1 could get to show up or take part in the festivities?

Bingo! Gee, they're honoring a bunch of bands who are still active, have recently reformed, and are sure to participate....

Nobody's gonna touch Van Halen as long as they are nothing but a train wreck. This is the part that bugs me though:

"...It's not the first genre to get the tribute treatment from the network; last week VH1 announced plans for its third annual "Hip-Hop Honors", which will air in October"

So rocks been around forever while Hip-Hop is a fad that I'm still waiting for to die, and someone thought to honour Hip Hop three years ago while they're just getting around to rock?

I agree, and same with Leppard, they deserve the credit. But honestly, what other band ever was incredibly successful with 2 different singers? Van Halen and 1984 both sold over 10 million, and 4 Hagar albums hits no. 1. What the hell else could they want?

Hip Hop won't die. It's like punk or blues or whatever. It will morph like
anything else, but it kind of is rock today and there will always be
black music that white kids want to emulate.

But I agree about the VH trainwreck. I mean, fuck Def Leppard. They've got
one good album (not Pyromania), but at least they attempt to stay relevent.
What could they possibly say about the Mighty these days with a straight
face? One new album in nigh on a decade (the one no one wants to talk
about), a GH tour cash grab, the recluse Howard Hughes of gtr, a couple
of marketing spokesmen, and the Diamond one who can't even keep a job.
It would just be sad to bring them up.

Thought the same thing when I read it. There are a bunch of bands beside VH that you could argue should be the first. AC/DC comes to mind and they are still active. I'll take Angus anytime over any member of Kiss.
