My all time fav Unchained Performance

Van Halen live in Oakland 81. Most of us have seen it, but after listening to both Gary and Sammy sing it live, it seems neither of them or the band is near as into it as they were in Oakland with Dave. Everything about this show was just unreal to me.

Yes it was most excellent when Edward scorched into this one. It was so amazing, just awesome.

btw - this was also at the Oakland show which I was fortunate enough to see.

Kick ass version there I say....
Unchained in Largo circa '82 (I think) isn't too shabby either.

Yeah, that's one of the best VH videos. It just captures the essence of the band. If it doesn't convince you that VH is one of the greatest rock bands ever, there may be something wrong with you.

    Unchained...

Caracas, Venezuela - Hide Your Sheep Tour - South America Assault -1983. Freaking awesome! The best live version, IMHO.

Judas Priest bro and no offense intended but posts such as this are what truly shock the heck out of me on this board.

Of course Dave rules this friggin' song cos it's HIS!!! It's his attitude, vibe and he WROTE it for goodness sakes. I'm NOT taking anything away from the band cos Edward wrote the music, I'm just sayin' that Sammy Hagar butchers EVERY and ANY Van Halen tune he tries cos he NEVER had said vibe. That's why he changes lyrics, etc.

Jump: "Got my ass against the record machine?" Dumb, Dumb and Dumber. Sam, just keep quiet and if need be, you just let Michael Anthony sing those tunes ok?

What's that thing that UFF folks say? "What's understood need not be discussed?" or something like that? Well, practice what you preach and keep The Round Rocker far, far, FAR AWAY from Roth anthems PERIOD!!!

Merely pointing out that "Unchained" 'tis a David Lee Roth song and NOT a Sammy Hagar song. So, of course it sounds best being done by it's rightful owner. I wasn't rude nor was I tryin' to be. My gosh, why be so sensitive? Sammy Hagar and "Unchained" do NOT belong in the same sentence nor do they go hand in hand. Why make such a big deal about it?

Thanks for the newsflash on "Unchained", I coulda swore it was on OU812. Now I know

And I am merely pointing out that the original poster was saying how great the live video was because he had previously only heard Sammy and Gary perform the song (unless I interpreted the post wrong), but you still felt the need to come in and bash Hagar on a thread inteded to give respect to Dave and that performance. Aren't you usually barkin that too many people at the Links bash DLR? Here's a guy throwin props to him and you turn it into the predictable Sam vs Dave bullshit.

'Tis beyond immature and unneccessary, but you know that already

    Default 1984 Version

Those three songs from Oakland '81 are my all-time favorite VH videos, but one version of Unchained that I really enjoy is the opener to Montreal 1984. There's nothing like the energy of the opening song in a concert and for some reason, out of any bootleg by any band, that one knocks me out.

The vibe led to radio. (cheap shot just like yours ) Hey, Dave solo, he was the king, maybe. Van Halen name is much bigger than Dave and Sammy and they both know it and abuse it. Wow, what a concept!
Jump: "Got my ass against the record machine?" Dumb, Dumb and Dumber.
What would Dave say? "I ain't gonna sing that shit!"
Sam, just keep quiet and if need be, you just let Michael Anthony sing those tunes ok?

Round Rocker was a cheap shot again bro! WTF? Come on and play the game nicely....have fun and celebrate VH the way you know it. Bashing Sammy is personal to some people etc....
    Just go for it!
