    Default Another Floyd Rose Question

Sorry if I am retreading over covered ground, but I am drawing a blank here....Is there a difference between an original Floyd Rose and a Floyd Rose "original".

It's my understanding that the real mccoy only has "Floyd Rose" written on the bridge plate, however I just now saw an alleged Floyd Rose that had "Floyd Rose original" on the bridge plate...."Floyd Rose" was on one line and "original" in slighly smaller font, and all lowercase, on line two.

An example of what I am referring to can be seen (barely) in a current eBay auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/Floyd-Rose-Origi...QQcmdZViewItem

    Are these the same thing?

Part of me believes that they are, and that the word "original" was added by Floyd Rose to differentiate the real Orginal from the crappy copies and licensed versions. But now I am not certain.

Can anybody shed some light on this? Before I make any purchase I figured I'd check with the experts on VHLinks.

    Thanks,
    Chris

I think you're right...The old school original Floyds didn't have fine tuners and the arms screwed in to the unit...they didn't use the collor screw in like the new ones...The one you see on ebay looks like the real deal...Just a side note...if you're going to mod your guitar to put the Floyd on, look at Wilkison trems, too...With locking tuners, the Wilkison is a better and more user-friendly unit...all IMO, of course...

That one is the real deal, there was a point where Floyd did put "original" on their trems for a time.
