Default Nicole Richie Says Happy Childhood Forced Her To Take Drugs

You can always rely on Nicole Richie to be different. Even the reasons she blames her junkie past on are, well, weird.

The "Simple Life" says her happy childhood was to blame. If you have to be adopted into a family, you could do a lot worse than being taken in by loaded superstar and his wife, but Nicole says being spoilt by her adoptive father Lionel Richie pushed her over the edge.

“I had a pretty fun childhood, but I just wanted to feel nothing,” she has confessed to Tatler magazine.

“It wasn't that it was horrible and I wanted to feel better. I just didn't want to feel anything.

“Doing drugs kind of made me just forget and not feel anything, for a second. I think it's a combination of things. Partly just me wanting to be older. It's what the older kids were doing at the time.”

But surely being a rich kid in Hollywood with easy access to drugs must have had something to do with her experimentation? She doesn’t think so.

“I could easily say yes it was, but people also have drug problems in Kansas.

“So I don't know whether, if I had lived somewhere else, it would have been a problem. I'd say it probably would have been, not matter where I grew up."
"Watch what people are cynical about, and one can often discover what they lack.” -- Gen. George S. Patton

How about having parents that don't care and are not involved in their daughter's life. Also the fact that mom and dad might have been doing the same thing, which leads to my first point.

Isn't that the truth! It probably would have been Meth over Heroin here in the great state of Kansas though. It's bad here where I live. When you see people that look like they've been smoking firecrackers, you know that there's a problem.

I've heard about this stuff Viking. Being in the UK we have a different drug culture to the states; cannibis, cocaine and ecstacy being the biggest, crack never really took off here. However, there have been rumblings about meth for a while now. Personally I'm hoping it doesn't get popular ( I don't think it will) in Britain but does it follow similar lines to heroin or crack addiction? Is it one of those "Sell your body and soull and steal and kill for a fix" kind of drugs?
I'm not anti-drugs as such but I am personally against a lot of them, simply for what they do to people and those around them. Don't mind a drink myself but I know this is a killer in excess, smoke cigarettes though I know this is even dumber and I have plenty of leeway and tolerance when it comes to people who want to smoke a joint or do a trip or even a party "E". (By the way, I've read your site so I know your personal opinions on drugs.)
Heroin? There is no middle ground in my opinion. Lost two friends to that garbage. Funny thing is.....technically they are still alive. But they are lost.
So what's the deal with Meth? Heard it can be "made" at home with stuff easily available from any store. Is this an epidemic like crack was reported to be in the 80's?

Meth is nasty, nasty stuff. And don't let anyone try to fool you, crack is still an epidemic in this country.
