Not sure on that. But keep checking Vh1's website as to when they will be re-airing the show.

I stumbled across one of their 'deep tracks' on XM not too long ago. Song was "Mad Hatter." Its really awesome, about one of the guys that died in the plane crash. (Pardon my ignorance on the band, I only know the one song) It was released on their 30th anniversary collection. The song just kicks ass. I can't find any bass tab for it either, if anyone has seen some, please let me know.

Actually it's about Leon Wilkeson their long time bassist that died in 2001. He was called "Mad Hatter" due to the unusual hats that he always wore.

Skynyrd blows thru here in May. I saw them 2 years ago. Great show. I'll probably try to go to this one.

I was in 11th grade when that plane crash happened. We talked about it the entire hour in my US history class. Does anybody remember they changed the Street Survivors album cover because of this? The front cover showed them standing around flames. It was changed shortly after the crash. I would imagine if you have the original cover that it might be worth something.

It appears Skynyrd is the latest band to fleece the fans: $25 fan club membership. $300 Platinum Package: meet and greet, first 6 rows tickets, etc. $150 diamond package, blah, blah, blah......

Cash in on the RnRHoF induction I guess.

I am very disappointed in the band or band's management. So, much for the blue collar, working class, common man band.

In keeping with the 3 guitar attack, the band has replaced Hughie Thomason, who left to rejoin the Outlaws, w/Mark "Sparky" Matejka. Anyone know anything about him? Supposedly he has a degree in jazz and has played w/Charlie Daniels, Hot Apple Pie and Sons of the Desert.

    Johnny has emergency appendectomy:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Johnny Van Zant had his appendix removed in emergency surgery Thursday night, the band's manager said.
Van Zant, 46, came out of surgery at Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, Calif., around 10 p.m., said manager Ross Schilling. His condition was not immediately available.

"He had been feeling bad the past couple of days," Schilling told The Associated Press. "He had performances Tuesday and Wednesday and sucked it up last night as far as performing with some pain."

On Thursday morning the singer went to see a doctor, who determined through an ultrasound that the appendix was severely inflamed and emergency surgery was needed, Schilling said.

Van Zant is expected to need at least a week to recover, forcing the cancellation of three shows: Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, Calif., on Friday; the U.S. Marine Corps base at Twentynine Palms, Calif., on Saturday; and Sunset Station Casino, Henderson, Nev., on Sunday.

He also won't attend Tuesday's Academy of Country Music awards, where he and his brother, Donnie, are nominated for duo of the year for their work performing as "Van Zant."

The following Lynyrd Skynyrd performances have been canceled:

May 19; Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA
May 20; Miltary Show in 29 Palms, CA
May 21; Sunset Station Casino in Henderson, NV
More information will be posted shortly

    Default Lynard Skynard thread

I could not find a thread of this band anywhere here. Sorry if one does exist.

I am going to see them tomorrow at the Ironstone Winery Amphitheater with Kenny Wayne Sheppard.

I know thats it not the same Skynard as way back in the day but having seen them on TV many times recently they look like they still put on a great show and pay tribute to the original instead of trying to replace it.

KWS is someone many of us saw on the VHIII tour and know what he has, a very gifted guitarist with some cool songs.
I have seen a couple concerts at Ironstone before and it holds about 7000 with most of them being general admission lawn seating. Very nice venue for a show.

Came across this while searching the Skynard tour dates. Thought it was pretty funny.
