    Default The Mummy 3

Oded Fehr Talks About The Mummy 3
    Source: Moviehole March 16, 2006

Moviehole talked to actor Oded Fehr, who played Ardeth Bay in "The Mummy" movies, about a possible third installment. Here are several clips:

"I'm not involved [in "The Mummy 3"]. The person that wrote it, created it, tells me they're doing a third one. They were writing it [when I spoke to him], so I don't know where it is now. I believe it's only going to involve Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz's characters, of the old movies, and everyone else [in it] is going to be new...

The most recent script however, sees Fraser and Weisz's characters return, but with their grown-up son, to help fight off the bandaged baddie. It's set in 1940, several years after the events of the first two films, with a new Mummy, China's first uber-Emperor Qin Shihuang, bringing on the pain.

    Fraser to Reprise Mummy Role
    Source: TMZ.com
    September 8, 2006

TMZ.com has learned that Universal Pictures has signed Brendan Fraser to reprise his role of Rick O'Connell in a third installment of "The Mummy" franchise. The movie is being readied to begin shooting early next year, says the site.

The studio has apparently made an offer to Joe Johnston (Hidalgo, Jurassic Park III) to direct. Stephen Sommers wrote and directed the first two films. "Smallville" creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are penning the new film.

The site says that the project will be a reimagining of the first two films, so we'll have to see whether Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo or Oded Fehr will be back as well.

Default No Mummie's allowed for #3

    According to Dark Horizons.....

Rick O'Connell, the Foreign Legion soldier turned action hero character which Brendan Fraser played in "The Mummy" movies, is getting a new film all his own reports Production Weekly.

Fraser is set to reprise the role in a new epic adventure that re-imagines the character in a different setting. "Smallville" creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have penned the script.

Joe Johnston will direct the film which aims to begin shooting early 2007.

    This sentence got my attention.....
...in a new epic adventure that re-imagines the character in a different setting.

Usually when someone re-imagines a movie/character/franchise, you can be fairly sure they'll screw it up. All I can say is, Rick O'Connell better not have a goddamn cell-phone.

    Mummy 3 Story Details Unwrapped
Source: SCI FI Wire January 22, 2007

SCI FI Wire talked to Al Gough, who is co-writing the third "Mummy" film with partner Miles Millar for director Rob Cohen and Universal Pictures. Gough revealed that the story will involve the grown son of Rick (Brendan Fraser) and Evie (Rachel Weisz). You'll be seeing a new mummy as well.

"We figured out a really good family story with Rick and Evie, and [their son] Alex is now grown up. So it's really interesting." Alex was played as a young boy in 2001's The Mummy Returns by Freddie Boath.

He added that Fraser and Weisz are in talks to return. They are expected to start shooting this summer for a summer 2008 release. Visit the link above for more of the interview.

Jet Li is The Mummy 3!
Source: The Hollywood Reporter March 22, 2007

Jet Li is in talks to play the villainous title character in Universal Pictures' The Mummy 3, being directed by Rob Cohen. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar wrote the script.

Plot details of the script are being kept under wraps, says The Hollywood Reporter. However, it is known that the action is set in China, with Li's story beginning in ancient times before moving to a post-World War II setting. It is also known that one sequence involves the famous terra-cotta warriors, the collection of 6,000 men and their horses that were originally constructed to protect the tomb of an emperor.

Stephen Sommers and Bob Ducsay along with Sean Daniel and Jim Jacks are producing.
