Couple this with Stern's thrashing of CBS last night on Letterman and it's game on.

The link is six years old, they don't last forever!
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

    Default Dave's radio show

My favorite part about his show was when he would discuss how he and Eddie would write songs. The story about how they wrote "Panama" was pure genius.

I liked that story too. I dug Roth's radio show, I listened almost everyday on the morning commute. I wasn't a huge Stern fan, growing up in Philly on Stern, I kinda burned out on Stern's shtick at a young age.

It was interesting listening to Roth radio, almost had a pirate radio feel. He always mentioned on the air that he knew ClearChannel was going to pull the plug on him at anytime because he did things his way.

    And then, the finally did.

I'm with ya. I wish I could get a copy of all the broadcasts. He really dug deep in explaining the whole creative process with Eddie. A lot of it I don't think was ever revealed before. Great stuff for VH fans.

Would any of you guys be able to summarize or recap any of that? I find the creative process and an artist's description of it to be an extremely interesting topic.
It would be great to hear the story about the creation of Panama!

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Sure, Dave and Eddie used to play records backwards in order to find riffs and grooves. They took a copy of AC/DC's "Let There Be Rock" album and played "Dog Eat Dog" backwards. Out of that stroke of genius the music for "Panama" was born.
