Anybody ever been to RRHOF in Cleveland?

We're thinking of going to Ohio and Tennesee this summer. We would like to stop at the RRHOF in Cleveland,Ohio. Has anybody ever been there? Is there any VH stuff on display?

I was there about 7 years ago. Was expecting more than what was there. Don't remember seeing any VH stuff. The place is OK.

I was there in 2000 while the John Lennon exhibit was displayed which was a truly amazing display. I thought the RRHOF itself was a great museum to visit. I could have spent the whole day there. It is definitely worth visiting. As for the people who vote on the Hall of Fame inductees, they themselves are nothing but historical artifacts with no clue as to what the RRHOF is and should be about.

Went there a few years ago.

    Glorified Hard Rock Cafe.

    No picture taking allowed.

Some very cool things....lyric sheets from the greats in rock and roll. Lennon's "blood spotted" glasses.....something like that.

    No Van Halen.

Overall, it sucked.....could be that I'm spoiled becuase of I live so close to DC and we have the Smithsonian...not rock and roll, but whatever they presenting, it's usually pretty top notch.
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

Ditto on a lot of what was discussed above. REALLY interesting - and could spend all day there. I have been there three times and I was there for the Lennon exhibit as well.

Many greats are on permanent display there.

One of the most fascinating displays is this ugly greenish 1960's style couch as you walk in. You are intrigued about what this thing is doing in there. Along side of it is an old-fashioned turntable/record player. The couch is full of cigarette burns. Along side of the display is a quote that says "He used to sit back there and play his guitar all the time on this couch. And use the record player for playing along." -Jimi Hendrix's Dad. I stood by that couch for the longest time imagining Jimi sitting there and playing in this old house as a teen, not knowing we'd be looking at this couch in a museum someday...

So you will enjoy it, even if VH is sorely unrepresented.

because if people saw how lame it was they wouldn't go.

I thought it was alright. I wouldn't plan a trip around it. It's like the hardrock but you don't get to eat. The Beatles stuff was great, the rest kinda boring.
Now comes my favorite part of the show. It's my favorite part of the whole evening. We've been on tour since March and I have no better time anytime then right now because I get to go sit down, have myself a nice cold one and listen to the greatest rock n'roll guitar player in the world. Mr. Eddie Van Halen. - Sammy Hagar

I live in Cleveland and have been there a few times. Will go when there is an exhibit that I want to look at. Its ok. Not a lot of artifacts associated with hard rock however one time they did have a Heavy Metal exhibit which was cool.

If you like rock and can apprecitate its history then its cool. If you don't like anything prior to 1984 well you may think its boring.

Don't know why you can't take pictures there. Maybe for security reasons.

Side note on the RRHOF but the coolest gig I played was there. Jamming and seeing all the history with the vibe was pretty cool. Also was sweet having about 10 monitors, the sides being about 6 feet tall.

    Default HOF

I was there two summers ago, i was not impressed. I have seen better collections at a Hard Rock Cafe.

I guess it all depends on the exhibits currently on display.

I went there a few years ago. It's not much. You can listen to the whole catalog of each inductee at kiosks. When I was there, they "Jimi at Berkley", playing in a mini-theatre which was cool. They didn't have any VH stuff when I was there, and I asked the employees there. They have had Eddie's guitar (Frankenstrat) and Mike's JD bass there in the past. They often rotate things to display.

my guess-because they want you to buy official programs and shit. they even sued a guy for taking a picture of the outside of the building and selling it.

i could have done without the bag of bloody clothes Lennon had on when he got shot. thanks, Yoko.

i go every couple years...attended a Christmas party there once, i think that was the last time i've gone.

remember, the Hard Rock and EMP will buy pieces to put on display, where the HOF depends on donations and loaned items.
