Dave talks about "Big Trouble", "Last Night", "Hang 'em High" and "Dirty Movies" on his radio show. I found it pretty interesting.

    Very cool stuff...thanks for sharing!
Apparently VH have quite a few songs from different eras with Dave that, as he put it, have "aged" ...so they must sound incredible by now!! Maybe someday we'll all get to hear them!?

I actually liked the bit about the fidelity of records, cool stuff thanks for posting.

Dirty Movies has one of the coolest grooves, actually the whole Fair Warning album grooves!

No way the played "Dirty Movies" on the Fair Warning Tour. They played the same set in the same order almost every show. Dave is just giving the caller the runaround.

The only exceptions were a cover of "Lucille" on 5/15/81 in Providence, RI & "Summertime Blues" in place of Romeo D on 10/7/81 in El Paso, TX.

    Standard 81 set list:
    1. On Fire
    2. Sinner's Swing!
    3. Drum Solo
    4. Hear About It Later / Dave Raps
    5. So This Is Love?
    6. Jamie's Cryin'
    7. Bass Solo
    8. Runnin' With The Devil
    9. Dance The Night Away
    10. Sunday Afternoon In The Park
    11. Romeo Delight
    12. Everybody Wants Some!!

    1. Ice Cream Man
    2. Mean Street
    3. Guitar Solo
    4. Feel Your Love Tonight
    5. You Really Got Me
    6. Unchained
    7. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love

Also there are several bootlegs with Big Trouble, Last night and other unreleased tunes, very east to get. www.jamtothis.com , www.diamonddavidleeroth.com and for more info www.vhboots.com

And how do you know this is true? Just because they played the same setlist on boots you own doesnt mean they havent played it. Just because the standard set shows you this, doesnt mean stuff wasnt added to shows. This is a fact because I do recall a certain April 21, 1984 show where ICM and Summertime Blues were added for that one show. vhboots wont help, as a bootleg with Dirty Movies never surfaced.

It's not just the boots. I have never even heard people comment on hearing Dirty Movies in extensive FW discussions here, at JTT, DDLR, vhtrading or rotharmy. The same thing goes for Top Jimmy & DDL on the 84 tour.

They played very cookie cutter set lists on almost every tour. See Lou's set lists for almost every 81 show. http://www.geocities.com/loucap81/vanhalen.html

I would find it very hard to believe they played Dirty Movies, but believe what you like. No worries.

    1981 Tour

Eddie, Al, and Mike usually jammed on,"Earache My Eye," before Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love and Dave would often sing,"Summertime," before Ice Cream Man(a great version is in North Carolina 8-25-81...the band played an' ol' blues stop-time riff while Dave sang Summertime and the livin' is easy...).
ASHES TO ASHES...DUST TO DUST...IF THE WOMEN DON'T GET YA, THE WHISKEY MUST!!...

"I used to play the blues alone in all the local joints," he explained. 'The only thing that I can really play on guitar to this day is the blues. I heard Doc Watson and his son playing 15 years ago, and from there I got into Leadbelly and John Lee Hooker."--DLR

If you pay attention -- what I sing, the guitar sings, too, and what the guitar says, I say.--Mississippi Fred McDowell

"You're talking about songs that most people aren't familiar with..."

I love that. Yes, we are quite familiar! Of course, we're not "most people" either.

His voice sounds weird to me. Not as deep. Kinda nasal-y. Probably was just the recording, tho.

This should be moved to main. That was an awesome clip. Not often a member of Van Halen gives a recent take on old non released titles. That was killer.

Yeah, I'd heard that the day of the broadcast and also found it much to my intrigue...cause the one and only time I call DLR's show will have (not sure what part of the call yet) "VooDoo Queen" screaming in the nether-regions, but "Big Trouble" is a very wonderful second candidate...I will record it and post for all y'all ta hear...lol...
