I got a rental car cuz mine in in the shop. The CD player don't work but the cassette does. So I did some digging in my ancient cassette library and dug out a copy of Montrose. Looked like it had coffee or beer or bong water on it.( it's about 15-20 years old) but I put it in and......Whoa!! I took a trip down memory lane. I listened to it all and it's truely a classic album! It's still kicks ass!! Sammy and Ronnie sound awesome together. Ronnie plays those great "now classic" riffs throughout the whole album.

What Montrose song did VH cover with Dave back in the club days? I can't remember...

Never mind. I found it. It's "Make It Last."

You should give HSAS a try too. I think you can find it on CD now. Not bad either. "He Will Understand" is a sweet tune. Wish they had released the rest of the live songs on actual CD. There's a couple on the DVD I have of one of the shows that would have been cool with full mix and production.

If you check that Nightmare B4 Halloween show I've got up at G101, I remember Mike and Al playing a bit of Rock Candy during sound check. I know I've got Make It Last layin around somewhere too.

As much as I love Sam, Montrose never did it for me.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

I love Montrose with Sam. Bad Motor Scooter is such a great song. The solo is golden.

I definitely believe Montrose features Sam's best work outside of VH.

    Default Montrose News

    From melodicrock.com:

"Not only that, but the long in progress Montrose record continues to
take shape under Ricky's (Ricky Phillips-Bass) guidance. With much of
the music completed, it's now time to start recording lead vocals for
the album, which is set to be an all-star affair. Musically the line-
up features Ronnie Montrose on guitar, Ricky on bass and Eric Singer
on drums. Guest vocalists lined up to do a track each include Sammy
Hagar, Eric Martin, Tommy Shaw, Paul Stanley, Gregg Rolie and more.
The style of the album says Ricky "is old school 70's heavy rock n
    roll...no overdubs, no computers..."

    Sammy is (possibly) involved????????
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

    -George Carlin 1937 - 2008

    From RonnieMontrose.com

    March 2005
    Hello to one and all…
I’ve finished rough mixes of tracks to present to 10 of my favorite singers and have each one contribute lyrics and vocals to some incredible “Power Trio” tracks that Ricky Phillips (bassist – Babys, Bad English, and now Styx,) Eric Singer (drummer - Alice Cooper and now KISS) and I recorded live in the studio. We have most singers on board now, and I’ll list them next month… I’ve contacted many of my old as well as new friends, and am very excited to bring this assemblage of talent together on one project… The title will be “Ronnie Montrose and Friends – 10x10.”

I guess there's a good chance Sammy will sing a track on it...

If the Red Rocker does sing a song on the album, that's GREAT news!!!
