Default "Love Divine" and, was written in 1999 with the mighty VH

    Sublime

"Sublime" was originally titled "Love Divine" and, was written in 1999 with the mighty VH. It was 1 of 2 songs we demo'd with producer Patrick Leonard... different song, different music.
    - I revisited the lyric in 2000 while writing songs with Paul Mangone (Need I Say More, Difference)... the music was haunting.
It ended up being the hidden track on the 2001 Tribe of Judah EP.
    - Lyrically, the verses were a paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 13:4 (in my opinion, the most profound definition of the word love) hence the subtitle "para (paraphrase) agape" (the Greek word for divine love).
    - The spoken word at the end of the song, was the verses repeated in Italian.
    - I hope you enjoy it.

    - Gary

    Lyric

    SUBLIME

what is patient always kind, and does not complain
what will always find the time and, bare no blame
doesn't act boastfully or, suffer from jealousy
try and be arrogant, just another thing it can't
a love, a love that is not blind
a love, a love one of a kind

doesn't do it's own seeking, never unbecoming
it provokes not an argument or, take a wrong into account
rejoices with the truth, not in unrighteous fruit
a love, a love that is not blind
a love, a love can best be defined
    subtle, SUBLIME

a love, a love that is not blind
a love, a love one of a kind
a love, a love in tune in time
a love, a love can best be defined
    subtle SUBLIME

I would love to have heard the VH version of the song.
Maybe someday those post-VH3 sessions will be heard by us.
