Default tommy lee ; new rock star

    AND THE ROCK STAR IS...:
It has been the source of speculation for months. But finally news is about to be made official. Get ready for Rock Star: Tommy Lee.
The star drummer has been in negotiations with the show's producers for the last few weeks (you might recall my hint of March 1) to take on a star role in the revamped show format. The house band will be retained, with Tommy Lee - the Motley Crue drummer and seasoned solo artist - taking the place of Inxs searching for his next Rock Star lead vocalist. The winner will front Lee's next studio album and a tour (timing to be determined).
Rumors over who would front the show following Inxs' 2005 role have been widespread since the first season finale. After a suitable band could not be found, it was originally decided to gather a group of name musicians and search for a singer for a brand new band - until Lee stepped in that is.

An official announcement is expected within a day or two, but Lee gave this hint away as recently as yesterday in an interview with the Richmond Times-Dispatch. (thanks to Blabbermouth for the link) Lee's interview extract:
    Q. Any chance of another season of "Tommy Lee Goes to College" or are your academic days over?
    A. In about two days you're gonna hear a statement about something new. I'm looking at the press release right now, but I can't tell you what it is.
    Q. Is it an NBC press release?
    A. No, a different network.
    Q. But we'll be seeing you back on TV?
    A. Absolutely.
And this from one of the show's hosts, guitarist Dave Navarro: "As for Rockstar, I still am unable to comment, but the press release should be a day or two away. As soon as the line up is announced, I'll be able to answer some questions about the season and finally chime in. It will be a different show this year, but one that should certainly be entertaining to watch."
Stay tuned for that official announcement and press release.

This is bull-shit. Tommy's priority should be the Crue, it's gonna take forever for the new crue album if he doesn't quit all the crap.

I don't know man, if he just goes into the studio, does his drum parts and goes about his business, I dont' see it disrupting things.
Have you heard his solo stuff , I don't really WANT him in the studio with the Crue during the recording process other than banging the shit out of his drums.

For a guy who thinks he's Johnny Bravo cool rockstar, he sure does a lot of gay stuff that is very UN rock n Roll. Considering the success of the 2005 Crue tour, doing this gay show makes NO sense whatsoever and can only do harm to any momentum him and the Crue have regained.

I gotta tell ya, I really enjoyed INXS rockstar..but I don't see this being very good...

I mean, its really only going to be one short tour or so...Lee has had a different band on every solo album. Plus, are Indiana house frau's gonna be interested in Tommy Lee? meaning...low ratings.

That's my point basically. i'm just not into his solo stuff much, but he is a great artist and very creative.

Im starting to get the "Tommy Lee Fatigue", cant he just chill for a while? Too much Tommy, its been 25 years of Tommyland. Hes a GREAT drummer, but thats about it.....He should go back to his Crue duties full time and chill out on the full blown media assault... leave that shit to Navarro (who spends more time on his facial hair than playing)..or hook up with Ed and Flea.

TRue, but I think he has little interest in the kind of Motley Crue music the FANS want, he doesn't seem to care for the old school metal sound anymore. So really, him being out of the creative process might not be a bad thing for the new Motley album.

    Just play drums

If Tommy is only going to be the producer of an "unknowns" new album, and this is all they have up their rockstar sleeves, this show is going to bomb. But if he produces, plays drums, and other well known musicians form a new band, it could work. right now I'm leaning towards this show sucking.

Personally 2 of my fav crue albums are the self-titled with Corabi and Generation Swine. Tommy loved that creative, "ahead of their time" sound. I doubt we'll see anything like that again, but I just hope Tommy's mind is set on the new album.

Tommy should have gone along the lines of "Making The Band"...

This certainly will NOT get the ratings that it did for ROCKSTAR:INXS. Just another chance for Lee to be on TV.
