Default The "I Don't Get Radiohead" thread.

    Okay...

I wonder if it is just me, or does anyone else on here not "get" radiohead. My girlfriend swears by it, friends love them, but to me I am just like they stink. Am I in the minority, or do others think this way too? Maybe someone here who is into them can explain why they like them.

Never heard 'em. At least that I know of.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

Im sure you heard "Creep" back in the early to mid 90's. That song is ok but evidently their fans hate it, I guess the band does as well.

I think this is another example of a band playing pretentious music and acting like dick's, evidently there is always a market for them.

Alright. I'll take the opposition. Psychedelic English pop hasn't had it so good
since the Pink Floyd salad days. If you're expecting gut-level rope-a-dope,
you're barking up the wrong tree. But if you like experimental ambition
and bands that make their own rules, dig on OK Computer - a conceptual
and structural classic. And Thom Yorke is maybe the best contemporary
    lyricist I can think of...
They haven't done much for me lately, but they'll always get their props
from me. Funny how these "Radiohead is Overrated" threads pop up
here like clockwork. Did they kick your dog or something?

Radiohead is simply minimalist music. Doing as much as possible with as little as possible. It's atmospheric and loose, but a surprising amount of structure there if you take the time to listen to it. I love it, great stuff. They play with and explore sound in a way most people wouldn't think to. It's very colorful music, very visual, if that maks any sense.

Of course some could call it Pink Floyd without all that talent.

I never understood that either. I've probably heard one of their songs but darned if I can remember it.

The whole prob with the now music is there's nothing memorable or outstanding about any of it. A lot of white noise, IMO.

It makes good background music. The only specific song I remember is Treefingers (which is on the Memento soundtrack).

I don't like any of their songs that I have heard. I don't see why they even have fans. LOL!

Well Radiohead is loved by Rolling Stone and they hate VH so no wonder why you don't get them.

To be loved by the media you have to have half of these characteristics.

Need pasty white skin. Avoid the sun at all costs.

Your band has to have "The" in front of your name.

Heroin is your drug of choice or you have to be recovering from it.

You must be gay or sympathetic to gay rights.

Must be political and have to be left of Nancy Pelosi.

Play guitars with non-locking tremlo units.

    No solo's.

Be angry in public and claim that you don't want to be rich.

Don't do any stage moves because then you would be a poser.

You cried when the Clash broke up.[/B
    ]

Ok enough of the jokes. You either love them or hate them. Like Rush. Personally I don't get them. I don't want to think when listening to music. If I want to think, I will read a book or watch the Discovery channel.

OK Computer was good in a " im gonna get stoned and stare at the wall tonight and reflect" kinda way, which was handy at times in my twenties. But the crap afterward? Kid A was the album dumb hipsters said they liked to look cool. And the other one after that. They got too pretentious.OK Comp was the perfect balance between cold technology and actual emotion and melody. That cd is a fuckin CLASSIC. Nothing else they did came close. And live, they were the most boring fucking show EVER (well, a tie with VH 2004). If they cant do a show with Pink Floyd scale then they shoudnt bother, cause they have ZERO stage presence. They need video screens and visual shit going off.The OK Computer tour, they had TWO light trusses set up at two angles off the stage,wow.YAWNN.
