    Default GOOD ENOUGH is underrated

This is such a good song. Especially live from New Haven in 86'. This song rocks from beginning to end. Eddie is on fire here. Who's with me?

It's the 'Sinner's Swing' of the Sammy era.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

Great song. Good Enough, Summer Nights, and 5150 are the strongest songs on 5150 IMO. I wish some of them had been added to the setlist through the years.

I've been trying to like 5150 for 20 years. As much as Al's Simmons get
bagged on, Ed's tone here bothers me just as much or more. Sounds
vaccuum-packed or something, nowhere moreso than on GE. It coulda been
great, but too many of the old tricks, embarassing vocals/ lyrics ( here's a
few for the Worst Lyrics thread: "six on the half shell... hey waitress...rack
of what?... I'll have some thaaaaaaatt!!!" If only these were the last we'd see
of damn Sam's brilliant food metaphors, alas), and crap production to derive
much enjoyment out of the 2 cool riffs in the solo.

Verdict: Good Enough? I don't think so.

I hear what you're saying about the sound- I think that goes for the whole album not produced very well. And I hate the electronic drums with a passion- I try to tune them out

Have you heard it live? It's much better live, sound, tone, etc.

Good Enough should have been played right after Unchained....the low E dropped to D and all...But then there is that half step thingy. Or was it up a quarter step from standard tuning....I am too far gone to care about what the actual tuning was.
One song on 5150 was recorded a 1/2 or 1/4 step up. BOBW?
    Just go for it!

Yeah, "Good Enough" is a classic VH groove.

I remember when my girlfriend, at the time, bought the record the day it was released..., a sunny March day, here in Montreal. I had already the "Why Can This Be Love/Get Up" single and I was very anxious to hear the "5150" album. When I put on the record table, I instantly said : "Hey, that's a guitar riff from "The Wild Life" movie"..., except that it was heavier and that Alex was playing the drums on this one.

I think the song is good enough, IMO.

    I don't think it's underrated tho.

I remember walking out of the Music Plus in the Westminster Mall the day I bought the tape and immediately popped it into my walkman. I also recognized the riff from "Wild Life" right off the bat. I knew this was gonna be a kickass album. Played it all summer. By Sept. there was a shitload of that micro-dust buildup around the tape reels.
