Default Dave has dug his own grave this morning!

He was talking about the Cream reunion shows in London and New York, and said that their magic is gone after 30 years, and they should give it up. He said it's best that a band keeps its legacy intact and not try to ruin it- kind of like Van Halen and their reunion tourS. He said Eddie could call him and they could tour, but it would not be the same.- solos wouldn't be as good, then beginnings and endings to the songs would not be as good. And referred to the tour in 2004 as the "dying of cancer tour". I understood where he was coming from. But then to mock Eddie and his cancer- What a bitter, miserable fuck. He just ruined any chance he had of reuniting the original lineup of Van Halen. Why would anyone want to hang with this asshole?

If this is what he said, then how can he justify the last 10 years of his own performances, going out with a glorified cover band and doing an entire Van Halen show? And his constant references to wanting to get back together with Van Halen.

Obviously, this is out of context, but that smacks of a touch of hypocracy there.

I podcast this so I haven't heard it yet, so just by reading it, I might read it out of context. First off, I think I appreciate Dave more now than ever. If CVH did reunite, I would hope that Dave wouldn't wear the wig and try to recapture the glory days. I don't want to see a bunch of 50 year old guys acting like they are 20 and it is the 80's. So that being said, I don't think most people would be satisfied with a CVH reunion...especially the those that are still bitter after 21 years. I think a 2 hour VH1 special just featuring the guys in the studio talking, playing, and telling stories would be better than a tour that would fall apart after 4 shows....but that will never happen either. As far as the cancer thing, it probably was a direct stab at Ed, but it could have been metaphorical towards ed's playing, and the overall state of the band. Dave is a smart guy and I don't know why he would say that (especially since he is a smoker), but he was just probably telling the truth...Roth radio is the only new stuff we will get again.

i almost crashed my car when i heard this...we can all forget about a VH/DLR reunion..."dream another dream...this dream is OVER"...doesn't sound like he's intersted in a reunion

I expect the Rothholes will find away to support the tarnished Diamond even still, but what the hell? This guy is a moron, who will within six monthes once again be looking for a new job, and doing something stupid to keep his name in public.
And several of the folks out there (usually youngers who have never seen him in any format but TV and the occasional performance at Rib-apolooza) will continue to proclaim their undying faith in the "legend".
There are stories of the last tour of Ed and Sammy and bad behaviour and stepped on ego's. But at least on that tour 3 of the 4 seemed to get along, and still many say the shows were subpar.
What do you think a CVH reunion would be like where all 4 can't stand each other?
And one more thing, quit using CVH as a refernce to the Idiot Lee Roth era.
"Classic" Van Halen is anything featuring Eddie.
Try using NAVH, as in "Never Again Van Halen".

    Okay, fire away.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
    -H.S.T

This next part could really confuse things. Let's stay focused. #asis

If that's true, I'm not sure how anyone can spin that into justification. What's next on his plate for Ed, Mom insults?

If you hate Hagar, fine. Think the 2004 tour was a "cash n'grab" or whatever cute name you wanna call it fine. Even if you are an Eddie hater at this point because your hero ain't the singer....cool everyone has their opinions, But that kinda shit is WAY the fuck outta line and hitting way below the belt even for Dave. Was it for shock value to get ratings? Is that his real feelings? Does it matter?

    What a fuckin asshole.

That's what he said. A couple of people here agree that he said it as well. Listen to the pod-cast. Maybe then, we can get the whole context. Maybe it came out worse than he intended. Either way, Eddie can't be thinking good thoughts if heard this.

Is it the same guy who declared about a month ago that a "VH reunion was inevitable"? I don't want to be mean but it sounds to me like a bad case of Alzheimer.

You may be right about context- like I said, listen to the pod-cast, and then make an evaluation. I may have been way off- if so I apologize

no, zorba, you're pretty much right about everything you posted...i understood the "cancer" comment relating to a future tour that they might do with DLR but everything else you posted is exactly the way i understood it also...

Clearly a poor choice of words, that's for sure.
